Moose season is done for another year.

Yup, it's all over for another year. I took a friend and his daughter this year. The weather was terrible for hunting. Either very foggy or very warm, both bad for moose hunting. We did manage to shoot a young bull the first day of the 5 day hunt at 4:30 pm. I would like to say it was because of my hunting abilities but I can't, it was shithouse luck. We were moving from one hunting spot to another when I spotted the bull at the back of a cutting. He was about 300 yards away. Sherry said that moose will do just fine and started shooting. I heard the thud of a hit but encouraged, ( that's a good word for it), her to keep shooting. After 8 shots it was all over. She hit 6 of the 8 shots with 2 being lethal and none of the others ruining much meat. It is a 5 pointer that we got 321 lbs of meat from. As you can tell from the photos, she is one happy first time moose hunter. I was real impressed with her eagerness to learn and not to worry about getting blood on herself. She jumped right in on the cleaning and skinning. Kudos to her. In the photo showing the cutting, if you look real hard at the clump of trees in the center of the photo you can see my truck through them, that is where she shot from and I was standing where the moose was when she shot, when I took the photo. A fair distance away. Now deer season.
