Check prices, Costco is usually a LOT cheaper than Amazon for these.

I just replaced the 60 watt old skool bulbs in my shop with 100 watt LED bulbs that only use 13 watts. What a difference.

I put Lithonia led lights in my 40 by 50 shop last fall, I am very impressed. They are instant on and off and it is so bright in there I do not have to take my sunglasses off when I run in to get something quick.

I have bright white strip light on the inside of my lift that are strip lights do it I never use a drop light ever!

SAMs club by me has them in stock all the time for $38 a piece I put six in my garage. Bright as day in there now. I also changed every light in my house to led and my outside lights to led and my electric bill went down $20 a month.

My body shop buddy is replacing all his flourescent fixtures with LED. He says a lot brighter and cleaner light. I have to agree. Also, he was changing out bulbs pretty frequently, and the LED's he hasn't had to replace any yet. I picked him up a set of 4 footers at SAM's, and he replaced that one for two fluorescent's in his mixing room.

i have a couple led lights in my garage. along with 3 worthless squiggly one that do almost nothing.
this pic is with the 1 on the wall you can see and one above the hood of my dart. 32" led from lowes 30 bucks a piece if i can remember. before these i couldnt see anything inside the toolbox or cars and had o have a led drop light. now those 3 led drop lights hang between the doors off the tracks for even more lighting.

We just converted the whole shop to LED a few months ago, had 16 2 bulb 8' T8 florescent fixtures with ballast, bought the "tombstones" and converted to 4 4' LED bulbs and got rid of ballast...it is so bright we ended up only using 8 fixtures and pulling 8 down for new addition. The main building is 2000 sq ft very well lit with 8 fixtures! Reduced power bill from $250/mo to $130! Saved me from buying any more fixtures for new addition of another 1800 sq ft. Just dont look up or your eyes are toast for a few minutes, like getting arc flashed. I dealt with these guys and got these bulbs, incredible service, lightening shipping and great advise/tech support. Plus they are on the East Coast which is a lot closer for most of you guys. Best part is Oregon Energy Trust sent me a check for $800.

James Industry 48" 18 Watt LED T8 Lamp - Ballast Compatible - Single End Wire - Opposing End Wire - 120-277V - 5000K - 48" LED T8 Lamps - T8 LED Tubes - LED Bulbs - Light Bulbs - PROLighting.com

I shopped all over and found a few better deals but not by more then a couple of bucks a bulb and these have 5 year warranty. Highly recommend Pro Lighting.

I have (4) 4 bulb shoplights and (2) 2 bulb shoplights that I converted over from fluorescent's to LED about 4 years ago and it was the best thing I did for in my garage.

My 34 X 44 shop has (18) 4 ft 4 bulb old school big florescent bulb fixtures. They are arranged in three rows, with six in each row, also each row is switched separately. They were installed when I built the building 16 years ago. About 8 years ago, a contractor friend of mine gave me a huge trash can full of T8 bulbs, taken down from a commercial building. I went into each fixture and pulled the (2) old heavy ballasts, and replaced/rewired them with a single electronic ballast for the T8's and installed all the T8's. This worked well for a while, but I had no Idea of the age of the bulbs, and soon they began to fail, here and there. Also have had the electronic ballast fail as well. Knowing how much power they consume, I am looking into the LED switch.. So, I did some research and decided to test buy 4 hybrid led tubes. I did this as I felt that I could immediately install them with no wiring change, and simply remove the electronic ballasts and wire direct, as the ballasts failed. Hybrid LED are supposed to work with or without ballast. I paid $10.50 each for the Hybrids. I installed them in one fixture that I knew the ballast was still good.. Didn't Work, Wouldn't light. So my electrician buddy and I looked at them and decided it'd be best to remove the ballast and wire the fixture direct. That works fine. Now I am going to order 76 Direct Wire LED tubes at $ 7.50 each. I know , too many, But I have 2 of the same fixtures in the lift bay hanging sideways on the wall, close to the lift. So... I guess I get to go back into the remaining fixtures and wire them all direct. Not really that tough of a job. They will all be 5000k bulbs, and I guess if its too bright, I can just leave a row of lights switched off. Now to find out how much or IF Baltimore Gas and Electric will rebate me !!

LED technology is great, but I just can't stand that piercing white light. I wish they were a little more natural and warmer.

50cm 12V 36 SMD 5630 White/Warm White Non-Waterproof LED Strip Light
4X 50cm 11W 5630 SMD 36 LED Waterproof Rigid Strip Cabinet Light DC 12V

I recently posted this at FBBO. I installed some rigid frame LED lights in my workshop and pool house. I like the bright white lighting, but they have the yellowish ones too. Banggood.com. Very inexpensive and you don't need the old fixtures - just mount directly to ceiling or under cabinets. You'll need to buy appropriate 12V transformers too to match the wattage you install. For example a 15M strip runs about 72Watts. Read the specs for wattage per meter and get the right size transformers.

If you want "warmer" more orange light, get 3500 instead of 5000's. I am old and half blind, so I need all the help I can get.

How are the leds with vibration? I live about 3 miles from a coal mine and cannot keep lights in the shop.

Can you take a picture of your lighting setup? I want to do this and need some direction lol....

Thanks,
JW

A lot of good information here - and I thought I was doing good with my T-8's.
