Hi Guys,
Well its been a year and I finally have time to get the 8.75 diff narrowed.
Its a the B-Body with the 44" C to C mount pads.

I'm basically looking to have it narrowed to A-boys spec, rebuilt and have the perches moved in.

Im in Los Angeles, downtown. Does anyone has any recommendations or notes on shops that know their stuff on the job, I'm all ears.

I willing to drop it off in any of the surrounding areas as far Pomona, Huntington Beach and such.

Let me know.

Thanks!

update
I have a short list I'm compiling of shops.
I have Cook's Machine for the narrowing and the J&S gears that does the rebuilding.

I also found this online
eBay item number:161438939955 just wondered if anyone had dealt with moparmadness here?

It could be another avenue of getting this done. I would still have to rebuild locally.
I have all the brakes setup from my stocker. At that point I would probably just sell the housing. Use the third member on this new housing.

Another DTLA-er. I just built my 8.75 and also live in DTLA. I used a shop in east LA 10 mins away that had really good prices build me a 3.55 with eaton trutrac. I brought the housing, axles, and crusty JY 489 center section to them and left with a shiny, built 8.75. They had the 3.55 gears and trutrac in stock for the 489 too, it was done in a day and a half after dropping off. They also shortened my driveshaft quickly. All of this was done for hundreds less than everywhere else quoted.

More importantly to you I had asked if they could shorten a housing for me when I was searching. They said yes and i think it was fairly cheap ($100 or something?). If I were you I would get some dr diff axle in the width you want and bring the housing to them and tell them what you want. I ended up finding an A body housing but I know they are capable of what you need.

The name of the shop is Alcantars drivetrain performance. It looks like not much on the outside but TONS of stuff inside and they work quick. I think their specialty is jeeps and dana stuff.

One more thing I can add. If you have a duster/ demon with the open wheel wells (not covered like dart / scamp), and you have the 68-69 B body rear I would consider using it at its current width.

I think I have quite a bit of room between the fenders and the wheels on my scamp but the tires are pretty tight against the springs and thats using the dr diff offset spring kit. Maybe pick your wheel/ tire combo before you shorten your axle and decide if you need the offset spring kit.

Thanks for the info, Its going into a much older Mopar. A '33 Plymouth Sedan. I'm wanting to keep it all Mopar. Also I already bought a 8 3/4, I want to keep the bolt pattern also.

Tonight I'll put the old diff in and check the wheel clearances at this width with wheel setup and compare.

I checked the axle center on the springs with the wheels Im using on it, the fender edge would hit and it has that odd ball "the wheels are too far out look"
I thin the 2"ish in difference should work for what I need.
