Hi,
I have fresh built 416 small block. Block is stock 340 from 1970. Sonic tested and all necessary mods are done. Crank is Eagle forget, rods are Eagle H-profile. Pistons Icon forget flat top pistons.

Heads are Edel RPM full ported with 2.055 valves. Flow numbers are .6" lift at 303.9 cfm@28" H2O. Intake is Victor, ported as well. Compression about 11:1

Camshaft is Hughes STL6064AS, Lobe 108, lift .615/.621", duration .050" 260/264

Carb is Quickflow Q850-AN.

So, i have small nitrous kit on my garage. It is 100hp kit. I know that stock block is not immortal. So my poll is; install nitrous or not... If is obvious that block cannot handle more power than i forgot whole idea. But if chance is more that 65% that this block can survive, then i'm ready to take a risk...

the block would be the last thing to worry me if the tune is right .

100 shot should be no problem, if tune up is right

Okay, thanks!

Usually tune is not a problem, i have good data logging system on my car (engine and drive shaft speed, TPS, MAP, AFR, nos on/of, suspension position etc.) so i can tuneup my car properly.

Good to go then, but I will say it is addictive, 100 turns into 150 then into 200.

Somebodies say that about 600hp is somekind limit what original 340 block can handle. So that was a reason why i asking. Without nitrous i have near 600 ponies and with nitrous well over that.

Your motor won't miss a beat with that small hit.... I went through more bottles in a year than most will in a lifetime with a 250 hit on a 70 block back in the early 90's. I would splurge for a A/F gauge and make the most of it and prevent anything happening....

It amazes me how people think someone went in a different direction when they spray. No different that adding headers IMO. A power adder is a power adder bottom line...

Good luck and have fun lol...

I do not believe that limit of 600hp. BUT! As mentioned, the tune has a lot to do with it between the power and the NO2. Also, how often it is raced. How heavy the load is. (Car weight and effort to move it. The applied effort.)

Lesser engines have died meaningless deaths at the hands of brutal unneeded beatings in heavy cars and over revving.

Where does a stock block break?
Excellent question.

Thanks for great support :)

So, i'll going with Nitrous... It's so sad that it is illegal on street use in Finland. And my race class doesn't allow any power adders like nitrous, chargers, turbos etc. So, i'll hide it and enjoy added power on the street :)

At that level you're pushing it. Your tune better be dead on.
What quality fuel..???

Be careful ,man... Hope you have a bottle fill supply point.....

Bottle filling is not a problem. I'm licenced driver on Drag Racing series in Finland, so i can buy nitrous. Only street use is illegal for some reasons.
So, next time when i travelling to US i'll bought empty 20lb bottle and remote bottle opener. All other things i have allready on my garage.

It's technically illegal everywhere unless the vehicle is placarded for carrying compressed non-flamable gas. The kits used to come with a green DOT sticker...lol. Anyway - A friend has a 410 that makes a little over 600, and runs a 175hp kit on top of it. It has held up but the assembly was meticulously done and the parts are high quality and the owner is a dedicated racer with a lot of tuning experience.

I would not be afraid of even a 2 stage. Give it about 80 on the WOT and even 150 on a button aftewards! It will make you smile:)
