Could someone please tell me which mini starter will work on my 64 Valiant. It has a 273 engine and 904 trans. Thanks, Litz

I got one from a 92 dodge dakota. Been in the car for 4 years now and its been great! I got it at NAPA.

U need the NippoDenso unit.
These Guys are right, you can use the Dakota platform to order one.
Ordering from your local parts Guys is a crapshoot with these starters. You can get a good one, but chances are you're gonna get one that will only last a few years, at best.

I own a big block Dart and if the starter craps, I have to lift the entire motor/remove my CPPA Headers to get to the Starter.
So, you can bet I know the best Denso Starter out there and it is the unit from MANCINI.
It is 132 and worth every cent. You will not have to replace this unit after 2 years.
This is the best stuff out there.

WHATEVER U DO, AVOID THE CHRYSLER MSD STARTERS. I went through 2 of them before I learned my lesson. I had to have one for contingency, so I tried to make them work.
I have learned my lesson and back with the Mancini Starter.
You guys can save yourselves TONS OF ****, by using Mancini for as many parts as possible.
They are the best with knowledgeable Sales people, not Car salesmen turned parts hustlers.

I used a starter from a Dakota as well, same part from '88 thru 2000 I think, on my '66 Barracuda/ 4-speed car.

I pulled one off a late 80's, maybe early 90's full size van in a junkyard. Cleaned it up and it bolted right in and works great.
It cost me $15. That was 3 years ago now

I can drop my starter in about 15 minutes. If I was in your situation I for sure would buy the Mancini piece.

I too used the Dakota starter. Rebuilt from Car Quest, it has worked well for 10+ years. After my 66 sets for a month without running, it spins it over fast!
