416 1/4 mile times

Hooking: high 11's
Spinning: low to mid 12's

I'm not real familiar with the performance of those heads though

I reckon there's enough hp there from your specs (430 conservatice guess)/3350 for you to run around 115mph on a good tune, if it hooks and goes in the 1.6's for 60fts its mid >high 11's. As said it takes time to get the best tune on the day depending on how many shots you get at it and of course the track etc. etc., that 750 Eddy is your weak point though for a max 1/4 time in my opinion, I used to run an 850DP on my 340 with same heads as you and it would go 2/10ths slower with a 750dp, the Eddy is a good street carb, just not for max attack 1/4's......good luck.

Holleys make engines (run) I'm just not a fan. Uneducated i guess. I drive it to work, store, beer store etc. it's just a driver for sure. It hasn't seen the strip in 13 yrs so I'm coming out of retirement so to speak. At least for one night for now.

I think you will run low 12s or high 11s. If you have good air, temperature and traction, I bet you will run a few high 11-second passes. I took my 68 Barracuda to the drag strip for the first time since I built a 416 for her a few weeks ago. I was very concerned about traction. However, the track was in very good shape. In addition, the Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials (old version) worked awesome at 18 psi. Tire size: 15 255 60. I ran three straight 11.5s with 1.57 60-foot times@115 with full exhaust. Car weight 3500 with me and a full tank of gas. My engine combo and vehicle details are posted in the 11 second section (last post). Our vehicles are close in build and vehicle weight, etc. Good luck. Enjoy the time at the strip.

741 is all I run and beat on it twice a week. I hope you have a driveshaft safety loop installed. Dana Spicer solid u joints only. China crap will not hold up.
i order a driveshaft safety loop today from classic industries. Anyone use this??

first time out, I think high 12's, if the eddy is not spot on throughout the range, it's probably not.

The Edelbrock will about never be perfect. There just not adjustable enough. There mod-able though, just not up to the Holley level.

I am not a big fan of the AFB but I do very much like the AVS. It's the spring loaded tension door that stops the bogging easy. (Same for the TQ.)

Reguardless of it all, it looks like your about to have some fun and remember, have fun, do the best you can and RELAX! Don't worry about anything except what your doing. Just focus on that alone and your golden.

I used the universal summit loop, cut it to fit and welded it together instead of using the bolts.
Greasables are hollow. I broke a cap on the pinion yoke. Dana Spicer was the only solid u joint 1/2 way made in the USA. Cap and needles are USA, cross made in Mexico.
me too on the loop

I agree with go out and have fun. I've cut .5 of my ET with simple no cost tweaks to the car. Get comfortable driving the car and you will be consistent.

Ohh. I can drive it. Hahah. That pic and trophy was taken in 1997. Just a little faster now

J heads with 20cc dish pistons............. is that really a 10.5:1 combo.(don't know, asking)
2.02 j head with 3.91 gears, 3000 stall........
Mid twelves if it hooks 12.85-13.00 if it don't.
What altitude do you race at?

MY car tips the scales at 3860, ran a 11.96 with a "741" 8-3/4 housing. less weight less load. You will be fine. I'm more worried about my stock axles that i have been beating on for to many years now!

Comp cams XR 286HR-10. 236-242. And 544-541. Retro roller hydraulic

I have the solid roller version of that cam in my 410. With ported Edelbrocks and a 750dp it was running 10.5's @ 125mph at Lucas Oil Raceway....with that said, I think you should see high 12's first time out. The heads and carb being the main bottle neck.

She's all loaded up and ready for tomm. New u-joints, driveshaft loop, seems to be runnin good.

cool. I use the same cam in my 408, best time 11.40 with 1.57 60 ft. I´m pretty sure it can do a 11.3x on a good day....

too much tongue weight on the trailer !
Yea. The doors on the car won't open If I put it back any farther and didnt want bo and Luke it. But that truck don't care. I also said I was hoping for fair weather in the first post. And that's not looking good. Rain at 4pm for the rest of the evening
