So hypothetically, if I were to put an overdrive transmission behind my 440,(69 Dart btw) what options do I have? And BESIDES THE CUTTING OF THE TRANS TUNNEL SUPPORT, how hard would this be to make work ie; do they make manual valve bodies or would I have to run a kick down or vacuum or what? Could I use my 3 speed shifter and add a button for od? Like I said, just brainstorming. Any info would be useful! Thanks in advance guys!

Ultra bell on a 518. Buddy of mine has one. I think there are adapters available for some GM trannies as well

yes. but you didn't say you wanted cheap.

by the time you buy the new bell housing, a trans, have the trans built, all the crap needed to put a 518 in its not going to be all that cheap either..

don't have to cut anything to get a gear vendors in though. a lot less trouble too in my opinion to hook all up too.. just not as great as OD ratio..

Ur right I didn't say cheap. I guess I was just hoping someone would say "a such and such trans bolts right up" then I would try and locate a used one. But thanks everyone for ur advice! Much appreciated!

How about just a 727 with gear vendors hooked to it?

Bingo.

Well...you do have to cut the driveshaft down.

Love my GVOD. I'd never own another car without an OD tranny. When you cruise 4.56 gears down the freeway it's simply amazing.
