904 trans

Yup, 273, 318, 340, 360 can all use the same trans, but not exactly the same converter.
The converter is balanced different for a 318 than it is for a 360 for example.
I don't know for sure on your 340 or I would tell you, but a 318 is internally balanced and a 360 uses the harmonic balancer and converter or flywheel/flex plate to balance the engine. (external balance)
The 340 had different crank shafts (some internal balance and some external)
Unfortunately I don't know how to tell the difference without doing a google search or asking here. :D

The trans case itself bolts right up to all the above.

Yes, but what year 340? 318's were all neutral balance, cast crank 340's were not, so you might need to do something different for a flexplate or torque convertor. And cast crank 340's were not the same balance as cast crank 360's either.

one is bolt to a 360 will that work the 340 a have is 1970

A 1970 340 should have a steel crank, so it should be a neutral (internal) balance same as a 318. 360's were all external balance, and as I mentioned before the 360 external balance is different than the cast crank 340 external balance. So regardless of the 340 balance, either internal or external, the 360 balance is different. The transmission itself will swap, but you'll have to sort out the balance of the flex plate and convertor to match your 340.
