Had my local shop call Hotwire as they have dealt with them for a new hemi swaps. I have a 2006 6.1L Hemi and a T56. My local shop was told the PCM I should use is a 2009 Challenger 6.1 manual trans pcm. I already have a 2004 PCM and was told that I should use the 2009 PCM as there is a potential stalling issue.

Anyone know anything about this?

2004 Pcm will be for a 5.7 Truck. I would definitely look for a later PCM for a 6.1 with a manual transmission at least. Have you looked into any of the standalone setups such as fast? They have the PCM and harness you need for the swap.

Check with Solo Electronics in Florida. They know PCM's!

Solo PCMS PCM ECM ECU Engine Auto Computers

I looked st stand alone pcms and it's not for me. I really hate the way mega squirt works and fast and Aem are over priced.

I have access to HP Tuners and really like working with it. So that means Hotwire harness and was going to use my 2004 PCM. They now wants 475 for a 2009 pcm...

You can do the holley setup for about the same price as the factory ecm. It is an easier to tune solution in my opinion. I have tuned 100's of stock ecm cars. That is all I tuned for the last 7 years. I Moved to Holley on all the restomod stuff unless the customer insists on the stock ecm. I can tune either via email if you need help

I just bought a Holley setup for my car. I do have a complete 2010 6.1, manual ECM and harness that I would consider selling if that will work for you.

My 6.1 is stock for now but I want to be able to tune for a supercharger or turbo later on. I've been told by my local guys who all use HP Tuners that HP Tuners is what I want. I haven't read much concerning Holley....care to supply some details since you work with it @lxmodguy

Ok so from quick reading I need these components?

Because I'm using a DBW pedal I need the dominator ECU.

Dominator ECU - $1990
Hemi Harness - $428
Coil Harness - $100
Injector Harness - $100
Main Power Harness (for Dominator) $58

Total - $2676

Hotwire Harness - $1050
2009 6.1 Hemi manual trans ECU - $475

Total - $1525

HP Tuners does have a small fee in order to use it.

Well DBW makes it more expensive for sure. Unless your a really good tuner I would not attempt a boost tune with hpt and a stock ecm. Assuming you buy turbo's, you'll need a boost controller too. By the time you do that and pay someone to tune it....because trust me you will....the factory setup is more. You get meth control also w Holley which is a huge plus. All in one box. Nothing extra to wire. The upgradable nature of Holley makes it a better choice. Plus, say you have a problem with the harness or ecm. You can overnight one from summit. Hotwire would have to reprogram a custom ecm.

I thought the 2005 Truck manual pcm was THE one to use on a pre-VVT engine?

Very interested to see how this one pan's out on this Riddler. I have a 07' 5.7 hemi which I bolted the challenger 6spd to. I'm using a 05 ram computer that was flashed by Hotwire which I stated would run a manual transmission.

The car runs, having some issues so it may not be transmission related and could be something else, but I do notice when I pull up to a stop or to a low speed with the clutch fully in that the engine will feel and sound like it is about to cut out, then the revs pick up again, idle drops right down, revs pick up. It does this a few times before regathering it's idle to normal. Meanwhile you can see this causes the oil pressure to drop, return, drop, return to normal. I'm wondering if this is the issue they are referring to?

It's really starting to get to me.

It's the tune. It needs to be tweaked a little bit

The manual swaps tend to do that from a lack of inputs the ECU is looking for (from what I have read). I had that problem with my swap when I first got it running. After some research I found that a good throttle body scrubbing was, for the most part, a fix. It occasionally returns, but I have got into the habit of giving the throttle a tiny tap as I shift out of gear at low speeds when I know I wont be in gear again before it would return to idle. Just a tiny goose, maybe raising the rpms a couple hundred or so, is all it takes. Something about the ECU being able to recognize returning to idle from a rev works, while returning to idle from a low speed load gives it fits.

The TB cleaning is done using brake cleaner- not throttle body cleaner. Mopar warns against using that cleaner as it affects the electronics. You just wet a towel with brake cleaner, open up the throttle blade and scrub it all over until its shiny.

Hey Riddler, did you end up deciding on a computer? Without hi-jacking your thread, I just had a tune done locally on my car and they used HP Tuners. It sorted out the almost stall condition (mostly) and seems to catch itself a lot quicker now when pulling up to a stop. I STILL have cold start issues and they told me the HP Tuners software was limited for it in that regards and that they take some timing up in order to warm up the catalytic converters to help with it passing emissions. I would have thought all of this would be programmable and be able to be changed?! Once it warms up it sorts itself out, but it is pissing me off that an EFI engine I have to wait to warm up! I hope you have some better luck.

Hp tuners is a full feature suite for the 05 and up ecm. Where did you take it? Cause there's no way that they shouldn't have been able to fix it if they knew what they are doing. Probably a typical LS shop with HP tuners that "can" tune dodges

Yeah, a place in Australia. You hit the nail on the head, typically do LS tunes. I didn't really buy what was being said either.

My hotwire w/2009 computer, idles high after start up no matter how warm it is...i don't like it either
