Those wheels should fit fine.
If it was me I'd get the car running and stopping well. Swap the master cylinder for a dual circuit then drive it for awhile. The car will tell you what upgrades it needs.
If you decide to go with front discs, make sure you want to stay with the small bolt pattern before taking the plunge with the wheels. No sense putting a lot into SBP stuff then later on switching to BBP.

I was thinking the same thing. Time to sit back, take a breather and think about it.
