Hey gdrill, read down further into the article.
Article says retail price will be $5999 once the company starts production in 2017.
Still steep for a hobbyist, but decent price for small business repair or fab shop.

Yeah 4k - 5k now if you get in on the kickstarter campaign but 4 mm is pretty thin for steel parts . This should hopefully push the real players in this industry to bring down the prices of more powerful and versatile machines , Like the poster at the bottom said imagine a tabletop 3d cnc - waterjet combo that can surface to tolerance after the waterjet cuts the shape.

4mm is close to 1/8" no?

I remember in the late 70's the water jet video of it cutting cake without smearing the icing.

I thought that was pretty cool, but it made me afraid of the somewhat new "water pic" dental technology.

It's a little more than 1/8 , 6 mm is just under 1/4 but thats still a little light for custom brackets and way too light for doing emblems and lettering . It will get better for sure just need a competitor to drive the market and we'll be seeing 5 axis 3d units cutting blocks inches thick eh LOL .
