Ok, here goes. First, my car is a 68 Dart GTS original big block car. Stock exhaust manifolds, stock motor mounts etc. Not sure this will work on a 440 Dart or Cuda. Also I did all this on my back with the car on jackstands. If you have a lift it may be better for you. Also, since I was upgrading my cooling the lower and upper hoses along with the radiator were removed. This actually gave me more room to work. It also facilitated in jacking the front of the block.

1. First thing was disconnect the negative cable from the battery

2. Jack up the front end and place your jack stands

3. Remove the driver side splash shield

4. Remove the two nuts holding the driver side motor mount

5 Remove the passenger side motor mount bolt

6. Remove the transmission mounting nut that bolts the rear tranny mount to the crossmember.

6 At this time take your jack with a block of wood covered by a towel and place it directly under the front of the pan. Slowly proceed in jacking the motor. Insure your block of wood is properly plced under the front of the pan.

7. You should be able to jack the the motor up to the point where the manifold makes contact with the steering shaft. Not sure if you have headers however the exhaust may put the headers in a bind. You may want to loosen the collectors.

8. At this point the driver side motor mount is clear of the two slots on the mounting pad.

9. Go ahead and remove the two bolts that secures the front of the motor mount bracket. Also remove the inner bolt that secures the bracket and the dipstick to the bracket.

10. Place an additional block of wood under the direct fron of the pan directly behind the dampner. This gives you additional security when your hands are down by the pump.

11. Begin removing the pump. I started with the lower rear bolt since that's the hardest to get to. In fact it was a bear to get out. I used a swivel head ratchet and a 1/2" socket. The rest of the bolts came right out. The lower front bolt, the long bolt will come out with the pump. Once the bolts were removed I tapped the pump with a rubber mallet. It dropped right down with no interference from the K member.

12. Once I prepped the pump for assembly everything went right back in reverse order.
