I've used Lokar throttle & kickdown cable combo assemblies with no problems. This is my first time hooking it up to an Edelbrock carb. I have everything hooked up correctly and the throttle cable has been cut to fit and operates very smoothly. The problem is there doesn't seem to be enough throw with the gas pedal. With foot off the pedal I have the cable barely loose at all, maybe even slightly tight in fact, to take out any of the slack. If I floor it, there's still room to get to WOT, like I need another 1/8" or 1/4" of cable movement. I removed the clevis from the end of the cable and it is hooked up correctly. There's no play in the mount at the firewall, in fact I used a washer on each side to ensure no play.

Not sure what to do here. Did anyone use a linkage bracket or anything when hooking it up to the Edelbrock carb?

Anything to adjust down on the pedal? I ensured that the pedal isn't hitting the cable mount.

without pictures, its hard to see what the issue is
(your sure there is no carpet creeping up under the pedal right?)

worst case scenario, drill a hole in the throttle arm, closer to the shaft and install the cable there to shorten the throw of the arm, which will shorten the required pedal travel for WOT

You can actually bend the rod at the pedal to get more travel out of it.
Just pull up hard on the pedal and you'll see that it makes the pedal a little higher and it'll open the carb all the way.
Done it a bunch of times on cars over the years.

i always figured this would be a temporary fix, and when he stomps on it, he'll just bend it right back again

Hard to say for sure without seeing pics of it installed. I had a Lokar cable with an Edelbrock carb before, and was able to get WOT.

Only if he hits the end of the cable because the throttle pedal assembly is a lot tougher than the throttle return spring.

I'm telling ya the simplest fix for that problem is pulling the gas pedal up pretty firmly.

Could also mess with it for weeks taking it on and off until you find out it needed the angle changed a little and pulling up on the pedal does it.:D

I just went and pulled on the gas pedal but it bends the whole thing pulling it away from the firewall, I drew a red arrow next to where it bends when I pull on it. Is this correct?

That'll work, but I like to hold that down if it lifts and bend the round rod that comes up from the pedal.

Sorry, I had to take off in kind of a hurry yesterday and left FABO open but didn't come back to it until this morning.
Some have accused me of ignoring them because it looks like I'm on but I'm not here.

I had to do the same thing on my 73 dart. I was useing a tunnelram and two 750 Edelbrock carbs. It doesn't take much to bend the peddle up and I never had any problems with the peddle after that
