I'm interested in a set of wheels just for the rear of my 66 Valiant Signet. They are 15" x 8" with a 4 5/8" backspace 5 on 4 BP. Stock 7 1/4. Does anyone know if these will these will fit my car?

Let a top tech jump in, but I don't think an 8'' wheel will work at all .. I am looking for 6'' with a 4'' back space for my 66 Valiant

I'm hoping a top tech will chime in. I found these and would like to put them on. They are Rallye wheels with a 5 on 4 BP. They would look great IMO.

8" is iffy, 7's are better, 4 5/8 offset maybe too much also but you can cure that with a spacer

Yeah, a spacer would work, but 8" is iffy. Not really worried about racing or speed,.it's a /6 car. I was thinking to go with a 205/70/15 or 225/70/15. I wish the guy who was selling them was local. It's an expensive chance that I don't want to take if not sure.

You can put an 8" wheel on there but you'll need at least 5" backspacing for it to work. May I suggest a 225/60-15 as your maximum tire size. 215/65-15 would be good too. Neither one needs an 8" wheel however.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but the reason you want at least 5 inches of backspacing is to keep the tire from rubbing the fender correct?
Adding a 3/8 spacer would be counter productive because it LOWERS your backspacing and pushes the tire further into the fender

(Now, if you needed the spacer to clear the springs...then it would work)

That's because 383Scampman thinks 4 5/8" is too much, and with a 3/8" spacer the wheel now has 4 1/4" backspacing. IMHO that's not nearly enough. I say 5" would be the minimum on an 8" wheel. 4 1/2" BS on a 7" wheel is nice, which is really what the OP ought to be buying.

Thank you. I will look for a 7" wheel with a 4 1/2 BS. A member here had the wheels I posted above and thought is was a good deal, but I'm glad I posted this thread before I purchased them. It's pretty hard to find 5 on 4 when it comes to wheels.
