A used ’64 or 65 A-body 4-speed 833 transmission assembly.
20161116_102253r.jpg

It comes as pictured: with shifter pad (no shifter), with reverse shifter arm and missing one shift lever.

Casting numbers are:
Case C956396 10x7
Tail housing C95868P 10x8?
Cover C95664J 10–22
Unit was full of clean fluid and unit seams to shift smooth. Unit drained for shipping.

This transmission has been sitting for 30+ years in my possession and most likely has been sitting for a while before I got it – so I would recommend at least resealing it (needs a cover gasket for certain). Going through it is probably a good idea (but I don’t think anything is broken or wrong with it).

I bought a ’69 Road Runner automatic car with a truck load of parts in 1986, and this was part of that package.
It has been in my garage (in Oklahoma City) collecting dust all of this time – so time for it to go.

I’ve never owned an A-body nor anything older than ’67 (note: I’m at For FMJ Bodies Only website, a lot).

Other than removing the side cover (and finger tighten it back on) I don’t know its history nor have I done anything with this unit (except for tripping over it).

I would like $425.00 (US) for this (including freight to lower 48 states). I don’t mind shipping elsewhere but freight difference will be up to you.
Item comes as seen in picture (no other clutch or shifter components are available).

If you are interested – but think $425.00 is too high, send me a PM, so we can discuss.

If a local pickup, I will reduce price $100.00.
Otherwise I will build a crate for unit to be shipped in.

I’d prefer PayPal but will take cash, check, trades etc.
If paying by PayPal, there will be additional 3% for thier fees.

Picture taken – but misplaced. The front bearing retainer is 4.35” diameter (the correct size for ’64-65).

If that unit has the 3.09 low gear in it, guys;here is your chance to get your hiway buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz down. This is 16% more 1st gear torque multiplication. 3.55s will take off like 1.16 x 3.55=4.12s
The entire gear-train will need to be swapped into your 2.66 case, along with the mainshaft from your 2.66, and your late-model rear extension. This is as easy a swap as it gets and you will never regret it. Everything else is straight-in swap stuff.
If you have a B/E, this stuff will also swap into your case/extension,with your mainshaft.
Line up guys!

Thank you AJ/FormS.

I didn't preform a gear tooth count – but I doubt anyone has ever been into this unit before – so it should have the 3.09 / 1.92 / 1.40 / 1:1 gear set in it.

Price lowered down to $385.00 (US) - which includes freight in the lower 48 states.

Interested but think this is too high, then send me a PM with your thoughts on price.

I can't believe this has not yet been gobbled up. The lowgear alone is worth the admission, even if both synchronizer units are beyond repair.Common guys, the deep low is awesome.It takes off like;
(3.55 x 3.09)/2.66 =4.12s! 65mph is about 2867rpm
(3.23 x 3.09)/2.66 =3.75s and 65 is about 2608rpm
(2.94 x 3.09)/2.66 =3.42s and 65 is about 2374rpm
I've been running this 3.09 since about 2004,and never going back to the 2.66. It's just what your SBM needs to blast off! I paid double for just the gearset,no synchronizers, and have never regretted it

Interested shipped to 60021 for $300.
Considering missing linkage, no shifter.

Thanks either way. and Happy Thanksgiving

Dave

I have been traveling this Thanksgiving weekend. Home now but taking off again for one more meal, shortly. Sorry for not replying sooner.

So far two people had wrote to me, while I was driving 1000 miles:

Mycuda wrote first, but is wanting to pay $300
Cpearce wrote second.
I do need more than $300 for it (with me making a crate for it and paying for shipping).

Mycuda, if you are willing to pay more I will give you the first choice.
Cpearce, can you wait until Mycuda replies back?

$300 is too light – even if I was shipping the geartrain only (more labor, less freight).

Hi Bud, totally understand.
I'm going to look at early 70s
Model today or tomorrow.
Complete with linkage, shifter assembly.

So for now, I'm on hold.
So move to next in line.

Thanks Dave
