Anyone have a good link to a metal cowl induction hood source? I have a 1970 Dart, and My original hood gets in the way... My fiberglass scoop hood sucks and is garbage... I am painting the car soon, so I am searching for a 4" metal cowl hood or something along the lines. Thanks! I've googled but can't seem to find much...

No one makes a steel hood with cowl induction for MoPars. Go to the Chevy resto pages and get one of the hoods there and start cutting and grafting.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they are the same... (based on I recall seeing hoods for my car that said also fits duster)

This is the one that inspired me to go Cowl instead of Scoop...

well I could get my son to email you a picture but it is different than that, it is a cowl induction style hood but the cut out sits more inset, so lower, I believe it is a factory steer hood with a fiberglass insert maybe not what your looking for

Have him shoot me an email. I was thinking of putting a scoop on my factory hood too...

Actually, that is a Chevy II. The Nova derived itself from it at a later date.

Sorta. The Nova was available right from the rip in 1962 as the "Nova 400" trim level of the Chevy II. So it really didn't come later. It was available right off the bat.

I'm confused... are you guys saying the hood scoop makes it look like a nova/chevy II?

All its missing is an ls motor
Lance nailed it....

you know how chevy/ford guys pick on mopar guys ?
and how E body guys pic on A body guys?
well, stock hooded A body guys pick on cowl induction hooded A body guys

it is just a little friendly ribbing of course, and most guys take it in stride (scampmike comes to mind)

and of course, the owner of this car

I like cowl hoods on some Mopars. The 67 and up A bodies look good with them, IMO. It's a proven design as a scoop, too. GM was smart. They took full advantage of the low pressure area at the base of the windshield and it worked. As long as it's not stupid high, I like the cowl scoops.

Far more popular with Chevy. As rumble said, don't think you will find one 'for a mopar'. Build what you like.
I bust his stones at every opportunity , but @ScampMike has a nice one.

Darts and Dusters do not share hoods - be sure to order the correct year hood with your scoop of choice on it - I urge you NOT to cut up your original hood just to put a "Chevy" scoop on it (or any other scoop for that matter). Fiberglass is THE way to go. Most companies offer a light weight "race" hood or a heavier "street" hood which can be used with the original hinges. If you do go cowl induction - welcome to the "other side" --- I even painted my engine bay black... I catch more flack (mostly here on FABO) over that hood and paint choice than I do over the Ford 9"...

do it and you WILL hear "nice Nova" - almost a 100% guarantee - Darts seem to be a little less prone to it - but my Scamp.. I even hear it from "Mopar" guys at shows!!

Yes, but don't for a moment you won't get that if you stick with a stock hood
You got to remember your car is older then half of the population of our country and many people just don't know what it is

Cowl induction scoops are so cookie cutter. Mopars are different and need to be that way to be cool.
