Had the opposite happen to me while driving my 77 PU. For some reason a guy in a 80's Mustang came up on me and started goosing it. We were going slow enough for a drop into first gear. He couldn't hang with the 440. We hit traffic and he was killing himself trying to get back up next to me but never did.
