CARRERA SLOT CAR TRACK
Our basement is filled with other goodies besides that slot car racetrack. On my restoration thread 'I've covered several other projects also. I'd guess you'd say it's become my 'man cave. Among the other projects down there I built a movie theater that has a wide assortment of movies that include almost every car film ever made. - 2-Lane Blacktop, American Graffiti, Vanishing Point, Crazy Mary- Dirty Larry
, Gone in 60 Seconds, Grand Prix, LeMans, Rush, Snake & Mongoose, Heart Like a Wheel, American Nitro, Speedway, the Blues Brothers, the Fast & the Furious, etc, etc...
Between the racetrack and the theater I set up a couple of pinball machines that includes one I modified to give it a THUNDER VALLEY Dragways theme. We even have a popcorn machine nd a pop vending machine down there for refreshments.
One of my latest endeavors is setting up the computer that is attached to our theater so that I can run NASCAR RACING 2003 on it. Yesterday I made a custom table to attach a force feedback steering/pedal assembly to it. I've had almost every car themed racing game ever produced for the computer for years but haven't messed with any of them for a long time. I figured it was high time I dug them back out so I could see how they looked on the big screen.
I think it was worth the effort. as much as I used to enjoy them, the huge size tends to really draw you into the action more so now. It took me days to find alll of the modified carsets that have made for the game over the years. Right now (in addition to the newrer NASCAR vehicles that came with the game) I've also got the '55-57 stockcars (hardtop & convertibles), the 1963 and 1966 NSCAR cars, sprint cars, late model dirt cars, Trans-Am Cudas, Camaros, and Mustangs, IMCA modifieds, asphalt modifieds,, Hobby Stocks, sports cars, 1968 Grand National cars, 1970 Winston Cup cars, and more.
It's becoming a gearhead paradise down there.
