Ok you can tell I'm new and having trouble navigating the site my question was I'm a older fella with a few problems but want a gasser i know people say start from the back and work forward but in the gasser case wouldn't you start from the front speedway straight axel kit big block 727 & 8 3/4 sounds like fun. steering they say vega gear box am I close what are the pit falls I would like some pros opinions pleas and. Yay or Nay I guess the steering is my big question hope I'm not boring everyone Thank You

You need to explain why....You need/want a gasser......then, maybe we can steer you in the right direction.

Very good question have to think about it I think gassers have a place in hot rods you don't see them at car shows and I think there cool I dont drive very far mine would be a streetable gasser i hope and the cost of the straight axel isn't much more than a good disc brake conversion need wheels and tires anyway so no extra expence there have to have headers made anyway for the 440 that's all I got and maybe there's a reason you don't see them at car shows I've always liked them but I will listen to the pros that why I ask and I will listen to your advice thank you very much either way I know just because I want doesent make it right

so do you have the car already? what's the condition of it?

When I think "gasser" I don't think about a 65 barracuda....I think about the 2 lane blacktop '55 Chevy, or a '40s willys coupe.....just my opinion

Yes it's in good condition body solid undercarriage solid mechanical issues 318 904 7 1/2 drum brakes steering box shot 14 inch wheels I've always had a hot rod of some type and need something under my foot some hp

I believe there is a straight axle available for your Cuda, some light digging around here will surely turn up the info!!

Yes sir still figuring that out I don't want to do anything until I figure out how I want to build this car if I keep it long enough have a buyer bothering me he wants it bad and the more I think about it maybe this car is to clean to cut on but I don't think I'm going to sell it but sure would make a great gasser as you can see I keep going back and forth but don't want to spend a dime until I know what I'm doing to this car that's why I ask for the pros help Thank You very much and I might get back to you

Yes indeed that's what I'm talking about I've seen this on the net and dreams can come true

Gotta agree, you sure don't see 'em any more and they were sure cool back in the day. There used to be a turquois '65 that drove around Cheyenne, WY on occasion which I assume he raced at Bandimere. Do it! And please keep us posted on the progress. Just don't display it like this!

When you said Gasser i pictured it like that one........Only Hiked up another FOOT.
that one, is not so bad, kinda like it.
Still can't help you with the process, but will be watching this thread.

That 65 looks great....but the black trim clashes with the genres.
