64 instrument cluster swap into a 65 barracuda harness question

Most obvious difference I see, one has the mechanical inst' voltage limiter in a separate more common plug in can. ( That's the one where they put a board attach screw underneath the limiter. Foolish engineering in my opinion. ) anyway
The other panel has that limiter housed inside the fuel gauge. Whether that difference is relative to the extra wire difference or not, I can't say.

So will this make a difference is the only thing I would need to know. Will it cause me any problems if I were to just swap the pins for all the other components. I have a feeling the system will still function properly just by pinning out the system to match up the pins with relationship to the gauges and the limiter should still function properly. I agree that the design seems to be odd and foolish.
