Nice build man! Love work and graphics you put on the body! I would love to do a build like this..
I agree - do not reweld the headers, use but or lap joint clamps, with some sealing paste, that way you can remove with out metal or sparks going everywhere.. Keep it up!

it seems that he´s doing some solid work....so i see no problem racing this thing. Even my POS did not loose a single part during some racing this year

Hehe This is right. I cannot install the headers, once they are welded together. I will install them and then weld them together. This way I can be sure to have no exhaust leaks.
The belts are 4pt Nascar from Beltenick. They were very cheap!

In July we were on a trip cross the US on Route 66. This was great!
We had the Ram shipped and it will be El Cheapo's hauler.
So after that little break I could finish the Sedan-conversion
and finish the 6 pt rollbar. It should be welded onto the car's frame but I couldn't burn the fresh paint. This has to be done later ....

Finally I installed the seats and seatbelts again. Interior-work is nearly done!
Next will be the rear axle with little bigger wheels :finga:

No worries. Svensson has a built in HANS system in his neck, powered by Astra. LOL
One year later I can show just a little progress...
My junkyard rescue from Fresno CA took some of my time. But I love these cars since I was a little boy...
It still doesn't run. But I had to go for now.
Hey! I didn't paint it. Just cleaned it carefully up. Was fun!
Ok. I emptied the doors of the Dart and copied the belt window regulators of the Hemi Dart.
To get the huge Pie Crust Slicks in, I had to install a Leaf Spring Relocation Set.
But I re-used all of the old hanger-parts, because they are from a way thicker material. I just boxed them with the parts of the set.

Leaf Springs with a simple rebuild kit.
and installed
Lettering this time not with a sharpie but with correct enamel paint. This was fun!
now standing on the new rear wheels!
Front axle
Engine & Trans installed for a last trial fit.
This is the new stance. Far away from gasser style, but not too embarrassingly low in the front.
Next I will try to fit the vintage Mr. Gasket shifter into tunnel and hump.

Finally I realized that I would have to cut the car to mount my headers. There was way too less room to install the engine and then weld the headers together. These were the first cuts into the car that really hurt...
But now I was able to finish the headers. After mocup I will reinforce this area.
Next thing was the nice Mr. Gasket Vertigate Shifter.
After cutting in the enginebay I was used to cut deeper than I wanted...

To fit the aircleaner under the scoop and to get heat out of the enginebay, I raised the hood about 2" in the rear
Now it looks as ugly as before
Same time I reduced some more weight.
I deleted the handbrake. No one needs a handbrake!
And installed the instrument cluster without anything but the plastik top.
Next thing is ripping it all apart and rebuilding the groups for final installation.
Need to go racing in May.
