Had my 5.9 swapped 70 dart going for awhile now. it's gets beat up pretty good. 750 carb, airgap mani, headers, mallory hi fire box, 4.56 gears, 904 trans. anyways, seems to have developed a "miss" believe on the #8 cylinder. did compression check, was fine leak down wasn't bad but did flutter a bit. Think maybe I bent a pushrod. anyways, if so, may as well look for a cam/spring pakage. keep hearing horror story's of bent pushrods ect, what has worked for yall? Don't need anything to crazy. but need an upgrade.

If you are running OEM springs you probably floated a valve and kissed the piston. Get with Evan (mopar magnum) Good guy and good prices.

Yea that's kinda what I thought. dosent run bad, just dosent idle as smooth as it should. want to buy springs, pushrods and a cam. don't wanna get to deep.

I seen on magnummopar.com they have .065 and .080 wall pushrods. don't wanna pull the heads, but maybe I have to.

If you have an air compressor shoot 100psi of air into the cylinder with both valves closed. Listen for air coming out the carb or the tail pipe, if you have a leak you need to pull the head. You will get some leakage past the rings to the crankcase.

a bent valve would show on compression test. did the sparkplugs look good? easy to check for a bent pushrod. stock magnum springs are light-85lbs at 1.64" and 200lbs at 1.21"

Plug did look a bit fouled, but we were having trouble with a shitty Chinese HOLLEY regulator. swapped it out, new plugs, seems to stay clear now. It's wierd. when you pull that plug wire it dosent affect the engine as much as the others.

Looking to get maybe a regrind, springs, and rods. Also, trying to learn what rockers would be best. see some use a chebby style. Magnum Mopar sells 2 regrinds. the stage 1 just isn't much lift at all, and the stage 2 says you have to cut valve guides. which is over my head at this point.

Hydraulic Roller Camshaft Specifications

Have a look here, tons to choose from. I just had them regrind the 722 for my build.

Evan at Magnum Mopar can do custom grinds. They use Racer Brown and have a big selection of lobes. You can also get more lift clearance with their springs and retainers so you won't have to do any machining to the sprint seat or the valve guide.
