I am not guessing at this. I own a ruler. It for sure is not a ball joint boot do to the diameter mentioned. It is a tierod, pitman arm or idler arm boot for sure. I have been working on these cars for many years and never did I see a boot this diameter on any column. If you want I have these in the shop and I can take a pic for you.
I thought those were smaller in diameter than the ball joint boots. A pic of those showing their sizes would be great. Thanks very much.
