So I have an early 76 dodge dart. Door says it was born 9/75. Which explains why it still has drum brakes. They started going all disc Jan of 76.
Got the car for doing mechanical work for a friend. He didn't want to let it go but wanted to see it on the street again. He has had the car since he was 17 and is 33 now. I decided to give it to my fiance as a bday present.
Started off replacing the rubber fuel lines to get it started. Then repcame the front rubber brake lines and the metal ones from the rubber to the caliper.
Got it some new white walls
Rebuilt the car as best I could but will be replacing it with a double barrel in the future.
New distributor/vacuum diaphram, cap, wires, plugs
New pads hardware waiting for calipers and the spring kits as the pass brake doesn't work like it should braking at 65.
New inner and outer tie Rod ends
New power steering gear box and pivot arm. Waiting to pull the motor to replace the other arm.
New upper and lower ball joints
Need to finish putting in New upper control arm bushings
New shocks up front and coil over shocks in rear
New heater core
New belts and hoses
New battery
3 inch exhaust with flowmasters 40 series muffler
Currently tearing it apart and gonna clean the head and rebuild the head over the next few days as tomo is thanksgiving.
Once the head is out I'm hoping the cylinders are in good condition cause I really can't afford the machine work. I have New piston rings to put in if it pans out.
I'm taking this is a mechanical tablet and not hydraulic. A lot of the lifters feel loos and have a lot of play. I should just order New ones and a camshaft to boot. See will see in the next few days
Was thinking of lowering the front end a Lil Idk yet.
Still need to hit the dash up and get everything reading and working right

Definitely getting the head to the machine shop block looks like it only the top that needs a cleaning at the top of the walls. Gonna look at some piston. Maybe I can find some domed.
I should get a New timing chain and camshaft too but Damn my pocket I hate going broke
Thanks @73hcode

nice! looks like the car is in great shape - your plans sound pretty solid - stay on it! If you're staying with the /6 - there is no need for that 3" exhaust system you speak of - total overkill. 2.5" will be easier and cheaper to install and will probably be better...

Lol @ScampMike I already installed. One of the first things I did as I figured the cat was clogged. Sounds almost just like it did with no exhaust on it lol. I didn't push it out the car yet tho. Just to before the axle. Thinking of running dual from where it is. The smaller pipe will route easier.
I was originally gonna put a 4 barrel car and intake manifold on it, along with header, comp cams and lifter, machining the head and block, domed pistons, fuel injection and a possible turbo. But plans got knocked back a bit but in the future may still go for it.

Hoping for decent weather the next few days. I'd like to finish yanking the block out and get everything tore apart. Of my budget allows I'll be dropping it off at the machine shop for a good cleaning and have it all checked for any issues. Might take a bit off the head. defiantly gonna get a new timing chain kit tho. I should have it rehoned I believe it's called lol. Hopefully I can snag those vans. I'd like to get a rear end out of one and hopefully it all matches up. But that ain't gonna happen I already know I'm gonna have issues that will have to be taken care of before I can install it. So it's not a rush as the motor ain't getting any bigger. Still looking for a 2barrel set up before it all gets put back together.
With luck she will be moving by Christmas or at the least new year's.
The only thing slowing me down is my missus hit a deer last night so I have to replace the bumper cover and light.
My daughter is having some medical issues that we are waiting for lab results for. So who knows it may be longer if it isn't something i can fix with my naturalistic medicines.
