Great thread, i cant wait to see miss vickie with a new V8 heart, and a proper rump rump rump to the exhaust.
Hay there moparmat , the day is getting closer sir and thank you.
8 1/4 2.54 gear on a new sure grip and new hardware. I am sure the 350hp 360 will do great with Victoria's longer legs for many travels to meat more of our friends here.

Hi Memike,

Why are you cutting the inner fenders? Are you going with fenderwell headers?
Yes, I visited @66340SEDAN and looked his 66 over and his super comp headers has been good to him for 8 years and he bought his used, I have a new set in the box still awaiting install, seen allot of problems with these early A's and headers so I went all in for a set, and they do not hang low under the car and that is a big plus aswell.
They will give me good HP and let my built 360 breath and last I believe.
Here is HIS 66 Valiant sedan I enjoyed driving (4 speed 340) and looking at closely

Yea ! I seen so many members complain about the room and the pain of pulling the engine , I spent about an extra hundred and got 1 1/2 inch tubes and tuned headers , our member 66340sedan has been running his on the same model Valiant for 9 years now, the engine and trans can be removed with out pulling the headers or any front end parts, they do not hang down under the car like the block huggers do, so yea ! I am glad I went with these Super Comp Hooker headers sir, should be fine and dandy when it is ready for the road again.

Now to find the correct wheel and tire size I need a lesson on how to do this before I spend the cash on wheels to match these front wheels :steering:

So, take a straight edge and lay the edge on the face of the drum in the rear! Now measure from the edge that is on the drum to the leaf spring, and also from that face to the wheel lip edge! Let's say that it is 4" from the spring and 6" from the wheel lip edge! You would like a little clearance on each side so subtract 3/4" inch from the 4" measurement and you get 3 1/4" of backspace! Next you subtract about 1" of clearance from the drum edge to the wheel lip, 5"!! Using these numbers you could run an 8" rim with 3 1/4" backspace!! These are just imaginary numbers, but you get the pic!!

On my pictured example, this is the 66 Valiant, the distance between the spring and the drum face is 5 3/4" and between the drum face and the wheel lip is 5 1/2"! I am inclined to go with an inch on each side, so I can safely run 4 1/2" backspace and 4 1/2" from the drum to the lip! That equals 9" but I would err on the safe side and go with an 8" rim with 4" backspace!

I am on it now :thankyou: Thank you so much @cosgig my friend ! I am very confident now :steering: I will take these instructions and move forward.

Again you have got me on track

8" rim with 4" backspace!

thats right BOB i drive it with 245/ 60 / 15 tires, i think 235 tires it´s better for your pocket Micheal and you have a little more space to the leaf spring :))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Only update I have is that all new brake lines and new E-Brake cables are on  seeing new hubs and brakes all around my lady sure feels good I must say :)

Time to fit the headers and set the new 904 5 stack trans coupled to my 360 in place very very soon :thankyou: goes out to all the members here that has helped in many ways as I move forward :thankyou:
