getting old stinks

I know the feeling too. One thing I discovered on my own that helped the ankle tendonitis was riding a bicycle. If the doctor ok's it you might give it a try sometime.

Whoever came up with the term "Golden Years" was wrong. That's RUST!! I'll be 64 next b-day, and I've been a meat cutter for 46 of them. Hands are about shot. Uncle Arthur has set in both of them.

We don't realize the damage we are doing to our bodies when we are younger, whether it is sports or our jobs.

Getting old is not for the weak willed. See folks talk about doing repetitive motion type of jobs...and cringe. Overuse injuries, as one ages always bring arthritis with them. My primary care doctor recently told me that my skeletal & musculature systems are that of a 65 year old...will be 51 in April. Have this wonderful thing called pseudo gout in my hands. When my rheumatologist diagnosed me about 2 years ago I was his youngest patient with it. Normally doesn't appear to about 60. Spent a couple of hours mixing chili sauce into 35 or so pounds of meat...have a boat load of pain now...not looking forward to spreading masa and meat tomorrow
that meat will kill ya !

Hey , Since Christmas is to be joyous, the most wonderful time of the year and all, lets all try hard to ignore the physical pain that generates mental misery for a few days. I'm taking the grand daughters out for a day of ice skating and stuff. Practicing what I preach. No I don't feel like it but if not now/today, When?
Ours is the land of the over medicated and the homes of the still miserable today and everyday, but until the day after Christmas... SMILE DAMIT! Fake that outgoing smile and see if the returned smile doesn't make you feel better.
If God didn't love us we wouldn't be here. If I didn't care I wouldn't have typed this.
Merry Christmas

The last year since I have retired I believe I am literally falling apart. Just got home from the doctor. Bp high, blood sugar high. The reason I had gone in today is my ankle is hurting really bad especially if I climb any steps. I live in a two story home. I thought it was bone spurs, I have had that issue before. Now they believe I have torn the Achilles tendon. I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary so have no clue how this could have happened.
You tore your Achilles because you were mashing the gas pedal too hard. ;)

That's great Redfish. Hope you have a wonderful time.

I've never cared for the whiskey. But the way I feel today, don't tempt me. Picked up a bag full of medicine and hope that will keep me from having surgery any time soon
this will fix that!

We don't realize the damage we are doing to our bodies when we are younger, whether it is sports or our jobs.

Ain't that the truth.

I spread the gospel of trying to prepare for the job to the youngsters among us, (and I'm relatively young compared to some in this thread) and hope it helps at least one looking forward to a body that doesn't give up or give out in his or her 40's and later.

sIt's not the age, it's the miles.

When the warranty is up, it's all down hill from there.

I'm 52, have two bad knees with a torn lateral meniscus in each and a progressively arthritic spine that hurts like hell and cracks and pop like an old oak tree in a windstorm.

BUT, I refuse to stop moving and I WILL keep on doing and moving for as long as I can. I once spent 6 weeks in a wheelchair and another 8 weeks with a walker followed by 16 weeks with a cane 9 years ago when I tore out both knees at the same time.

It taught me that there are always ways to keep moving and doing the things you need to do as long as you don't despair the circumstance.

Adapt and overcome to keep moving forward. All we get is what we have...and it's up to us to make the most of it.

58 and need to get shoulder repaired, hips hurt, knees hurt, feet are cold all the time. People say they want to live to be 100, I'm good with how long I can manage the pain and still have some quality of life.

My mom says getting old isn't for sissies.

Now I'm wondering why I switched my car to a 4 speed, oh because they are more fun.....LOL shake down miles cruising Woodward avenue and thinking, WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING.

I was being kidded a while back and I told them I have a lot of hard miles behind me. My cousin said its not the miles but the stops I made in between. He may have something there. A lot of the miles went by pretty quick!
