Mopar Engines ~ "Combinations That Should Have Been Made Available"

-
T-M-M,

I had a 1970 440 Six-Pack Challenger, Automatic.

And my friend had a 1970 340 Six-Barrel 'AAR' Cuda, 4-Speed.

Both were close to 'stock', with some minor tweaks.

When I raced him it was a 'massacre'. The 440 destroyed the 340.

The 1970 '383' was a pig, that I would agree.

I know it doesn't really fit in with this thread but I'd wish that the 383 was an available option for the '67 Valiant 2dr, I mean how cool would that have been!!

Roy,

In October 1967, 'Proto-Type'

Sox & Martin prepared a 'new' 1968 Road Runner to run in Super Stock.

It had a Fiberglass-Nose {Fenders and Hood}, and the car was lightened from #3560 lbs. to #3410 lbs.

* 426 Hemi
* 12.5-1 Compression Pistons
* In-Line Intake 'Dual-Carb'
* Twin Carter #3705 AFB's {750 CFM}
* Camshaft = .590" Lift / 318* Duration
* Prestolite Ignition

In late-1967, it was classed in NHRA 'SS/B'.

But for 1968, it was to be classed in SS/C or SS/CA in the NHRA

It ran 10.70's at the 1968 AHRA Winternationals at Lions Drag Strip {Long Beach, California}
classed in S/S Eliminator.

It was supposed to be a Plymouth offered Super Stock Package, with only 110 to be produced
{'55' 4-Speeds and '55' Automatics}.

But Plymouth 'pulled the plug' on the 1968 Road Runner 'Super Stock Package', and went with the
Race Hemi Barracuda's and Dart's.

I'm thinkin a 4x4 cross-ram? What-in-the-hell would have needed 16 (YES SIXTEEN) barrels of gas delivery......? THAT musta been a biggun! A Big something or other....nevertheless, DAYUM!

T-M,

This photo shoot for Hot Rod Magazine {February 1968} was taken in November 1967.

I would have like to seen the Demon Sizzler & Duster Twister in 1971 to have gotten a 318 with 360 heads (1.88 int valve), 340 intake/carb, cam, windage tray, & 9.5 compression.

This would have been a great entry level performance package & great platform to build on.
Rate it @ 255 HP.

I like the freash air deal.
This could have been an engine with little cost to the manufacture, due to off the shelf parts.

I'm think 14.90's with a 3-speed stick & 3:55 gear set.

Although not cost effective, how about the 400-4 in the 1976 F-body cars (Aspen R/T/Volare Road Runner).

Room to fit.

Where would it had landed for class racing?

Here is my what I wanted from the factory Hemi A body. When I built this car i wanted what the factory should have built. Everything in this car works the heat, horn, radio even though you can't hear it with the top down
JUST RETURNED TO THIS SITE AND THAT MY FRIEND IS THE SWEETEST *%#@*****ER EVER! IMHO

-I still say they should have done a 383 6 pack/6 barrel for cars with the "B" block in them! Just for a "baby" big block 6 pack/barrel.....
