Ernestina is not doing all that well. She has fibromyalgia, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatologist has thrown all sorts of meds at her. Meds have advanced to biologicals. Some have helped, minimally, for a brief while. Last one she was on the effectiveness tapered off, doc told her to stop it. Just seen the doc today, starting the paperwork to get her on Cosentyx. Hope it helps...she has gotten to the point that touching her is painful for her. All she wants to do is sleep. Docs have told her....more than once...that she NEEDS to exercise...and change her eating habits. Stand a better chance at winning the lottery than either one of them happening. Needless to say with the amount of pain she is in she is becoming more depressed.
This is really starting to wear on us. I don't fare well under stress....and am starting to feel more than a bit stressed. Really wish there was an answer to all this....

To anybody that reads this that has plaque psoriasis....PLEASE speak with your doctors about the potential of the disease triggering psoriatic arthritis. From my very minimal understanding of this one will almost certainly lead to the other...

Apologies for rambling. Feeling more than a bit lost right now. With it being the holidays getting into see my head doc is pretty damn difficult...

Awful sorry, Doug. Tell her Kitty and I love her and you and are praying for the both of yall.

Prayers for both of you, Doug. A lady at the local gym works out and eats right. She did not always, but she had to change her lifestyle to make sure she is in the best shape to take care of herself and her ailing husband. He does not eat well, exercise or do what the doctor tells him.

Prayers and thoughts Doug. Eating right and exercise is easier said tham done. But it is the best thing we can do for our own health.
As we age its a natural decline in health. Add in health "issues" and the need to help ourselves rises.
Hoping for the best for you both!

Maybe you can have a heart-to-heart with her and remind her that you are in this together. I wonder if there's a rehab place she could go for a couple weeks to get her started?

You both are in my prayers, now let's get her eating right and excersizing!! How about just walking with the pups, maybe???

Doug, I have ankylosing spondylitis, and it is crippling if I lay around and do nothing. I'm not sure about her other problems, but I can say for sure that it's absolutely necessary to be active to not be in pain from ankylosing spondylitis. It has rarely bothered me for years, since I figured out that keeping active keeps it from hurting. Humidity and cold also cause it to flare up, but I've been in Southern CA and Arizona for the past 18+ years.
You really need to try to convince her to get up and move around so she doesn't lock up completely.

Prayers sent.I have psoriasis. At one time it was all over my body. Now just elbows and head.

Why won't she just do what her doctor tells her to?
Wish I had the answer to this. At least one that wouldn't take me 3 days to type. She will often say she is going to do something just to appease me...perfect example...training our Blue Nosed Pitbull Daisy. I paid a few hundred bucks for a couple classes. Daisy picked everything up quickly. Know from past experience if you stop training will only be a matter of time before bad behaviors return. Last training session was last winter...last time Ernie trained her at home was....that morning. Have mentioned Daisys bad behaviors at least a dozen times..."I know I need to work with her, I promise I will get to it". Never happens during the day, we have dinner...Ernie is physically exhausted, hits the chair, Daisy snuggles in and they sleep til I wake her up to feed the dogs. They eat, back to sleep in the chair. I mention to her that perhaps if she were to exercise she would have the energy to not have to spend the evenings passed out..."I KNOW DOUG, GET OFF MY BACK"...
There is a lot more to it than this....need to get moving, get out before she wakes up..attempted to talk last night...which turned out exactly like the previous 70 or so attempts....my bi-polar crap winning...me getting stressed and slipping into a rage induced blackout....Haven't slept since 4a.m. yesterday...

And the arguing over the simple truths continues....I got a effing headache...

When my father was terminal with cancer and in his last weeks, his brothers and sisters came down for a last visit. They were going out to dinner and arguing over who was driving, where they were going and who was in which car. I stayed behind to have dinner with my Dad. He told me over our dinner, "People argue over the simpliest things"

I would feed the dogs half the time, train Daisy when you can. Set some simple goals for next year and move forward. From Gum Ball Rally: "rear view mirror, don't need it!"

Hey guy, please don't do that!!

I don't know you or your bride but I sense that an intervention is needed with professionals to show her how to change her daily routine. A hospital rehab center or something similar where they help her through each day with proper diet, exercise, instruction and compassion until she can see how it can help her. Beating back debilitating pain and the depression it can cause needs skilled help. Please press her doc for more direction and help in this matter or call the local medical society for help. You both need OUTSIDE help. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't fight this alone.....

Prayers to you and your bride.

My Psoriasis Diet - ABCs & 123s Of Healing Naturally - A Warrior Curing Psoriasis Naturally

I remembered a coworker with psoraisis, working in a restaurant. The lettuce whitener and the spray cleaner were like the worst things she could be around.
Besides eating and exercise, you have to stay healthy mentally, stress is bad.
I see what you are saying about the connection with the psoraitic arthritis. If there are ten triggers of psoriasis, there are more than a couple boxes checked. Didn't know you could get too much sunlight, etc.
