All the controversy lately... so let's do this in a fun way. You must own it NOW! Not in 1987, and not your buddies.... Pictures are nice!
1). State what you have (383/340)
2). State if it's stock stroke or stroker
3). State power adders (NOS/boost).
4). State if it's streetable, or drag only
5). State the E.T. (pointless post without an E.T.)

P.S. - Don't
need the blah blah blah all are junk posts
I cannot participate because right now, I don't have a 340 or 383.

Could you add an option that says "my 408 stomped all over both of them"

Thank you

:poke:

1965 coronet 3500lb stock 383 maybe 9:1
.528 cam, Holley street dominator intake, 850dp, headers
car went 12.65.
same motor now 10.4:1 with 557 cam and bigger headers is in my 72 dart. no etc yet

^^^^ We have a 383 going 12.65 in a B-body... sounds like a street car :)

drove that car every day, to school, around town, filled up the cell every day lol. had 4.56 gears and 275 drag radial. it had a 6200 chip in the msd and was on the limiter 40 yards before the traps. now I shift it at 6500-6800.
that 12.60 car beat ALOT of people on the street

Be interesting to see how it rolls in the A-body.

we will see this year lol.

but fwiw I race my dad's friend, he has a 68 barracuda with a stock bore and stroke 340, 10:1 with iron heads, Holley 750 dp,unknown gear or weight and beat him by a mile. that cuda ran 13.30 at the track

Lol...come on now...do you truly believe that?

Jeff

Nope. I like Chevy engines.

You know, I COULD just whip up a 340 and 383 on desktop dyno usin the same everything. I can even put the same heads with the same flow numbers on both engines.

....and you 340 guys will NOT like the results. LOL

I'm a little disappointed we only have one 383 E.T., and the 340 guys haven't showed up! With all the arguing on other threads, I thought this would be a chance to "put it out there" and let the E.T. slips do the talk'n :D

oh they will chime in,
in my opinion an equally prepped 383 and 340, the 383 takes it every time

Pretty stock ‘69 Dart setup.
‘69 340 stock stroke, .040 overbore,
9.8-1 compression ratio
factory X heads, no porting
Factory 340 exhaust manifolds
Edelbrock 750 cfm carb
NO power adders
3.23 gears
727 auto
13.37@102 mph

All 383s are junk.

Chevys that is.
yeah, their really truck motors. but change that to 400 w/ some comp. cam and heads, whole nother story ! don`t get me wrong, I`m mopar thru and thru, but take that 400 on up to a 434, and look out, it`ll wipe out most big blocks. (before it scatters !)

1) 340
2) Stoke storke
3) N/A
4) Streetable enough... barely pump gas
5) Best E.T. - 11.56 at 118 in 80*F Florida heat. looking faster as the car goes on her jenny craig saw zall weight loss plan this year!
