I have a 1977 Dodge Aspen that is street driven and raced weekly at a local track. My problem is burn out rubber on the rear fenders. I have mud guards but they don't stop all the rubber. The tires are MT 275/60/15 drag radials. It's a pain to clean the fenders each week. Are there any other guards available that do a good job and look pretty good as well?
Thanks
Dave

I put the "painters tape" on the rear quarters and on the lips of the wheelwells after racing i just peel it off and throw it away has NEVER hurt the paint..:thumbsup:

Never did it, but how bout Silicone spray? Works on snow plows to help it slide right off.

might be good for snow plows but it's nasty stuff wouldn't recommend
Nasty? I'm thinking of something like this.

Silicone is silicone. Food grade has no heavy metals or additives. IT IS NOT MADE TO SPRAY ON FOOD! Lightly sprayed on packaging machinery. Ever so small amount comes in direct contact with the food. PB Blaster, WD-40 and other oily solvents will attack enamels ,lacquers and 2K. A waterborne vinyl top sealer does a better job.

This always worked for me. I would wax the rear quarters. Wax on Wax off. Put wax on in time trials. Take wax off in winners lane.

Damn! And I was looking for a low cal alternative to Mayo. :BangHead:
Seriously, I am well aware of its intended uses. I've never seen it hurt paint. I do agree the solvents in the others you mentioned will eventually damage paint. Slap some butter on there if you plan to lick it off.

Vinyl body cover like the new Mercedes, Audi's and BMW's come covered with in the new car carriers. If you need a roll, PM me. Works great for the leading edge of the hood during bug season for those beach trips!

Silicone will yellow topcoat. Silicone in wax is a different story, smaller amounts w/o any solvents..

I just spoke a detail shop owner during the holiday. He has recommended this fix for years and it works well, high quality polymer(non silicone) vinyl top dressing. Dries fast and hard and makes the rubber come off easily with damp rag.

Use masking tape? I see that on cars at the track all the time.
