Hi , im hoping theres someone on here that can help with some problems im having with my 07 5.7 ram engine and rfe545 .Hotwire harness
When I installed the engine , i had an un known computer that cycled the start system and cranked but had no signal to the coil packs. Turned out the security was enabled .
Ordered a replacement from hotwire and when received it it started the engine first hit and i turned it off to check for leaks etc and when i attempted to start it , something fried and there was no earth circuit to earth the fuel pump and asd relays.
Ive shorted them through the relays to get it to run , which it does .... sometimes.
The start cycle only happens spazmodically. When the throttle body and fuel pump dont cycle , it wont start. Turning the key to on and off doesnt help unless you crank the starter at the same time and then it sometimes starts and runs perfectly.
I thought there may be a dry joint in the computer so ordered another one from hotwire.
I fitted it today and it is completely dead apart from the crank circuit , either with or without my wiring mods.
Theres no earth to the asd circuit this time.
heres a clip of what it does with the second computer fitted

so as it is now , ive got 3 computers that all have different faults and none work properly.
I cant believe there is something in my wiring that isnt correct when all faults appear to be different
Any ideas??

OK, so question 1, are the computers new from hotwire or is hotwire just sending you used computers? 2, have u tried calling hotwires tech support line? Getting 3 different problems with 3 different computers seems like a computer issue, although I have seen modules swapped out and have different symptoms to the same wiring problem. Now, my apologies for not understanding your lingo, but when u say there's no "earth" does that mean the computers not grounding the relays? Also what are the "ASD" relays? Finally, as with any high tech electronically controlled system involving computers and modules, grounds are extremely important!! Make sure everything is grounded, engine to frame, body to frame, even multiple locations of the body to frame. That being said, from what I can tell from your video, it looks like if those red lights on the gauge don't come on u know it won't start, and if they do come on you know it will fire right up? Is that correct?

Hi , theyre used computers re flashed ?? by hotwire as far as i know (not sure if he tests them or not?)
Ive talked to Chris at hotwire but not about the last one he sent due to the holidays.
Youre correct about what im trying to say about the earth or grounding issue, the relays dont ground
ASD is the auto shutdown relay.
The guages are stand alone and have nothing really to do with the engine as such. They take a second to come on and if the throttle body didnt operate , i turned the key back off before they could come on .
Its certainly strange to have the 3 different faults with 3 ecu's
Ive got earths everywhere on this thing and the computer earths are all together in one big terminal and ive tried that in a few different spots to no avail

OK, so when u turn the key on, if u don't see the throttle body power up u know it won't start? If it does power up, it will start? If so, I would key it on, if it doesn't power on, start wiggling the harness, especially the connectors and see if something makes the throttle body kick on. Also I would gently tap the computer with the back of a screwdriver or something. I've actually diagnosed a few modules like that.

I would look carefully at the wiring harness. I had issues with a couple wires being loose or being pulled out of their terminals. Hotwire didn't use the secondary crimp on the wiring insulation, so they can pull out easily. IIRC, it was my ASD relay terminals that caused some no start issues. One wire at a time, give a little tug and look to see if its still secure.

Also, have you tested your ignition switch to see if it ever breaks contact between start and run? That will cause a no start with the Hotwire system.

That's what I'm thinking. It needs a jumper wire between ign1 and ign2 wire. It's loosing 12+v power during key cycles.
