Just got back from the machine shop , where I was told to find another 340 block. So what I have is a 73 340 boat anchor I need to replace ! The last rebuilder forgot to install the internal rear oil gallery plug and the 2 front plugs !
Sooo anyone got or know of a rebuildable 340 short block that hasn't already been punched beyond 30 over on the pistons ?

The quick answer is maybe. But I am in Central Va. I have a complete and well running 73 340 that came out my old Ram truck. Mine is Standard Bore and that may be the tricky part for you to find. I am just putting it out there and hopefully someone will chime in closer to you with a block only. I will sell the Long Block no rockers for 800.00 and the shortblock for 575.00.

Thanks,
JW

I've got a '70. Been magged years ago, got one sleeve it it due to rust, but it's std bore. in CT.

are you looking for a rebuilt replacement ? or are you going racing ?
basically a rebuildable long block or bare block. I have a crank from the 73 340 ,plus cam lifters ,rods and heads. the block was already 60 over and it was really questionable if it is usable. my machinest said give him another week to see what a hone out will leave me with.
The motor is for a 68 Formula S cruiser, not for racing , but it MIGHT get exercised once in a while leaving show's :<(O)))).

Good luck. What I have can be found much closer to your Zipcode.

Eastern CT, towards UCONN. Zip is 06237. I'd like $400 for it. It's surface rusty but given the earlier work done to it...
Something to think of though - "if" the block you have is even a little bigger than .060 but passes a sonic test and the bores are round and straight, custom pistons are $8-900. Completely machining another block will run more than that, at least around me.
