Sears sells Craftsman brand to Stanley

-
Can't even order most Craftsman tools here in Canada anymore, the Canadian catalog is mostly lawnmowers and garden stuff the hand tools are a thing of the past around here .

Yep. We make it happen. (us tool guys) LOL

Fortune magazine had a short blurb about Stanley's plan to build a new plant in the U.S. after the Craftsman deal. Maybe Craftsman tools will again be made here. That would be a welcome result.

They filed bankruptcy last year or so didn't they? Talk about not changing your business model. Sears, shoneys, Stuckeys... they never changed their models and failed.

Funny thing is Sears Canada had remained profitable throughout the US parents problems and they jeep cutting our access to stuff .

Yes, Sears is in big trouble. They have sold off three of their top brands to raise capital and stay afloat: Craftsman, Kenmore and DieHard.

Didn't Sears buy K-Mart a few years ago ? I know around here K-Mart stores are struggling to stay open.

I read the article yesterday on MSN and just shook my head. My dad used to swear by Craftsman but now the quality is just not good at all. I loved the brand too and even have a full complete mechanic set that I keep in my truck. Just goes to show Sears is just like Circuit City and Blockbuster; can't change with time, bad business models, and arrogance in leadership. RIP Sears.

Every time I walk in to a crowded HF,, I think,,, Sears CEO was asleep at the wheel,,, I remember when Sears was the place for tools.
No doubt! Why pay Sears "inflated" prices when you can get the same quality from HF for half the price. (sarcasm intended)
