I'm considering modifying a set of centerline auto drags to accept dog dishes. I'm basically thinking of adding the clips that I've seen for sale to hold the hubcaps and then powder coating them black. I realize they have to be positioned properly for balancing. Is there anything I'm overlooking, or is it as straight forward as I think? There's so many of these available used I figure I can find what I need pretty cheap, and the condition won't matter much since they'd be getting coated and covered with dog dishes. Looks like it'll work and save a lot of weight.
Question for the wheel experts.

Any concerns about powder coating the wheels? I just picked up some old auto drags and want them black.
I'm pretty sure it'll work. We've all been there before though. Everything seems straightforward and then half way through the project Captain Obvious jumps out and kicks you in the nuts. I'm hoping someone else's forays will possibly postpone another meeting with Captain Obvious.
