Im redoing some brake line on my dart, my question is the lines from the master cylinder to the proportion valve has loops in them. Can I eliminate the loops and just go straight to the proportion valve to clean up the look?

You can but they are really for vibration and body flex so leave some "wiggle" room on the lines.

the factory put them there for a reason, if it was not needed they wouldn't have done it

there is a good reason for it - found this doing a quick search - "If the lines were short and straight, the motion of the car would eventually crack the brake lines; the continual flexing would fatigue the metal and eventually break it, just the way a spoon bent back and forth repeatedly will eventually break. By forming the brake line into a coil, the flexing in any one section is very small, and so puts almost no strain on the line."

There were no loops on my 70 Dart with power brakes, however the lines were not straight to the MC allowing some flex. When I shifted to manual I wound up coiling the extra brake line to make it fit. Makes me wonder if Mopar used the same length of line for both and bent it depending on if it was manual or power brakes?

How do you know the lines were OEM?
They did it so the lines would not eventually crack.

Thier age and they looked they had never been touched.

Check out page 5-32 figure 17 in the FSM for 70 Dart and there are no loops, what mine looked like.

Oops, then if true mine will eventually crack since I didn't loop them. But, I don't envision much motion between MC and distribution block. In my Dart, I used tubes w/ flex sections from an Intrepid, mostly just to look cool.
