Some do not like the pedestal mount rockers and cringe that a Chevy rocker can be used. The port flow on the Magnum head is an argumentative point on "Is it better than an LA head?"

I guess it all depends on what you want to do, what cost is involved for your wallet and what your willing to live with.
There are pro's and con's to each engine family. A, LA, Magnum. I'm making use of a '00 , 5.9 in my '79 B body. With the serpentine belt. No fuel pump eccentric so I used a Edelbrock electric carb pump. A B&M flexplate to mate it up with a neutral converter & 727, RPM-AG, AVS Thunder 650 & Super Comps. No cam yet. 3.55's out back.
