is there any thing wrong with removing the weight off my magnum flexplate and using it.. my magnum has been rebuilt and is now internally balanced.
 
If it's internally balanced, then you MUST remove the weight.
 
once the weight is removed then i should be able to use it..
 
Did he use the weight on it during balancing? If so,you need to leave it
 
no he didnt have the weight. he says i need a neutral balanced flexplate.. but i want to know if there is an issue with removing the weight on the flexplate and making it neutral so i dont have to buy a new one thats neutral.
 
What kind of flexplate, the stock unit has the weight on the convertor
 
i have weights on my flexplate and i want to take them off to make ita neutral balance flexplate.. ill just find away to take them off and give it to my machinist to check the balanace
 
you could probably get a regular flex plate for 15 bucks shipped to your door.
 
I have a bunch of old style flex plates do you know the size 10" 11" measure across the bolt holes and tell me what it is and I will send a pic of them.
 
My initial response was assuming the op is using an oe style Magnum flex plate with tone ring and all that. This will have the weight on it.

Any other oe flex plates, the weight will be on the torque converter, if I'm not mistaken.
 
Ya your right, if your crank sensor in the bell housing than you have to use it.
are you running fuel injection?
 
IMO the Magnum flex plate is stronger than an LA OEM. Remove the weight and your fine.

Just be careful, if I recall correctly the factory ones are not rod, etc. welded, rather they are spot welded, so if that is the case be careful not to warp the flex plate as you remove it. If rod, etc. welded, just be careful not to grind anymore than necessary, otherwise you will have an off balanced condition.

There depending on the year, there are magnum flex plates with and without weights, mags were externally balanced, but some with the weight on the flex plate or alternatively weights on the the converter.
