I have a 1972 Valiant that I bought from the son of the original owner.

When I bought the car in 1998, he (the son) gave me all the paperwork generated by this car, for all the repair work ever done, since it was new.

It has never been in even a tiny "fender bender," so I know none of the bodywork has been repaired, and the car still has its original paint.

There is NO PENTASTAR emblem, nor any attaching hole for one, on the right front fender (nor, on the left.)

What is up with that???

Has anyone else ever seen a car like this, that SHOULD have an emblem on the right front fender, but doesn't????

I just think it's very unusual...

Anybody????????:read2:

i don't remember what year they changed from the pentastar with the pin on the back that used a hole in the frnder to the pentastart that was a stick on but if your car came with a stick on pentastar it could have just fell off

My 74 doesn't have one either but the pass. fender has been painted. No hole pretty sure it was a stick on thought.

Thanks; that may be the case (a stick-on that fell off.)

Perhaps, someone with knowledge about the '72 model year A Bodies will chime in and let us know if they had stick-on or "pinned" medallions.

Anybody know???

If Im not mistaken 71 was the last year for the Pentastar on the right fender. My Dart has the holes for it.

I have a very early build 72 Demon that was built in Aug. 71. It has the pentastar on the right front fender with the 2 mounting pegs.

My car was a mid-year '72 build; they probably ran out of the emblems... typical MOPAR modus operandus...

Thanks for the info!

My '72 Demon built in April of '72 has the pennstar on RH fender.

Well.....looks like the timeline for the emblem is getting narrowed down here 8)

Is yours the style w/ the mounting pegs also?

Yes, it has the mounting pegs.

I own a '69 Swinger 340 and the right hand fender was replaced and the (Mopar) replacement did not have the pentastar emblem. I have a stick on emblem but need to know where to mount it. Could somebody be good enough to either give me measurements or a quick picture of where Chysler mounted it?

Thanks!

Whats the deal here? When I got my 71 Duster painted back in 2002, I had the pentastar emblems on both fenders. When I got it back, it took me a while to notice I now only had the pentastar on the passenger side fender. I always assumed it was a stick on until I prepped my car a few weeks ago when I noticed it had pegs in the back. Made me wonder if they just lost the other side and bondo'd the holes or if it was just a stick on.

What did the car originally come with then? Just a pentastar on the passenger side and nothing on the drivers?

The penta star was only installed on the passenger side. All my 1970's got them but non on 1973 and later cars. I saw them on 1971's. I'm almost certain it happened sometime in 1972.

I agree with above poster also. As far as I know, Mopar only put the pentastar on the passenger fender.

Looks like April of 72 was the last of these emblems installed, unless someone w/ a May build date chimes in.....:happy10:

Hi, I never got a reply from the forum on the mounting location for the emblem. Since your Dart has it, would you mind measuring the distances (left to center and bottom to center). Thanks!

If a 72 Demon is in the same location as your Swinger, I'll help you with a measurement.......

Here ya go zedman.....

From center of pentastar to rear of fender 5 1/16"

From center of pentastar to bottom of fender 7 3/4"

Hope this helps !!

I got mine at a Pick-Ur-Part in Hayward, California about 8 years ago...

Just lifted one off an old Dart... They're plentiful on old MoPars IF you can find any old MoPars in junkyards, nowdays.

I don't know who sells them, but I'd bet that somebody is re-popping them now.

Good luck!!!

My original Pentastar emblem has 2 mounting pegs. Classic Industries listing says 1 peg is original. I disagree....

Still glad they're being reproduced though...:)

You're absolutely right about 2 pegs being original, C.
I checked with Rick @ Laysons and he confirmed the Pentastar emblems Laysons markets have 2 pegs.
I also called Classic Industries. They're checking and will call me back. I'll post their reply when I receive it.
I would almost bet they all come from the same source.
