Have seen alot of arguments about what will fit. Well, bought the Hughes retainers and spring kit along with the comp cam show in picture. When we checked clearances, the retainer HITS the valve seal at .530 lift. Obviously won't work. Thought I'd save some headches. Have a video on facebook.

This is on a STOCK head 5.9.

Because of the lifter angle on the sb mopar...you lose some lift, maybe not enough to fall into the accepted tolerance, but I can tell you right now...you won't see .536 at the valve with a 1.5 rocker.

I think he is using the magnum valve train so it will be 1.6.
Also I don't know if those specs are 1.5 or 1.6 on the cam card. If they are at 1.5 the lift will be increased.

It's with the 1.6 magnum ratio. I didn't even install it. We checked the retainer to seal clearance and it was about .530 so to darn close. Could have the heads done...cut down. But may just look for a lower lift. Not sure how much clearance I should have, but I don't have enough with this at all.

the cam card shows valve lift with a 1.6 rocker-lobe lift .335" x 1.6 = .536". with the lifter angle loss, actual lift will be about .520". try a different seal or cut the valve guide down

It's so easy to cut down you can buy the tool from summit or jeg's or who ever and just cut them down.

Good grief. Have the guides cut.

I think the rule of thumb is .525. Aren't you glad you checked?

Good God Man, get a hold of Yourself!!! Geeezus, this is like 101 for any .500" lift neighborhood cam on any stock head, esp. w/PC style seals. It's so easy to correct it's not
funny, just do it...........Goodson,Crane Cams,Comp Cams, all sell these cutters w/the pilot You choose for the dia. guide You have. There are guide OD reducing cutters for ones
that don't have PC's to accept them, spotface/counterbore style for shortening only, and multi cut for any & all of the above.
