When discussing Slant six motor mounts....

They almost look like they would interchange but I know better than that with Chrysler Corp.

in case anyone ever questions what is the difference .....here they are side by side, the early A mounts being the dirty ones on the right and 67-72 on the left.

I didn't include 73 and up because they are spool and the difference between spool and what is here should jump out and kick you in the head.

The R brackets look identical, and the rubber mounts look like they would work on both. I wonder if the triangle corners on the newer mounts are needed for clearance or just to save a little weight. Anyway, would probably work on my 1964 slant.

The L brackets look quite different, but the bolt holes appear to be in the same locations, so "should work". There is often a side hole in that bracket for a brace rod from the AC compressor, as I recall. I don't see such hole in either bracket, but it could cause problems for some swaps. The L rubber mount tends to separate under hard throttle. I had that in my 69 Dart. You see the engine lift up from the split mount under throttle, which explained a strange clunking sound when leaving a stop light.

As always, hope that SlantSixDan see's this thread since he has all the info.

The early A bodies place the engine further forward in relation to the steering/suspension, I think I posted the amount on 65dartman's ad for a Mopar 6 into 1 header, I think
it was around 1 7/8". I know 'cause i put that exact header on My '64 GT, & the centerlink, pitman joint, & inner dr. tierod were heavy into the front tubes, I made a LOT of
cove into them to just clear.
Oh, this is why the oil pans are different as well.Which brings up My upcoming dilemma, the slanty I built & am going for round 3 on is a '69, and I added 1.5"
to the sump,& welded a full baffle in.........may have to start on a new pan..........

You can shim the '67-'72 insulators with plywood to work, more or less, in the '62-'66 cars. It's better and easier to just buy the correct mounts in the first place.

Where is the best place to get mounts for a 64 Valiant?

Assuming you need Slant-6 mounts, see here. The rear/trans mount is the same for \6 or V8, but the front (left/right) mounts aren't.
