360 oil pan and pick up fitment

You want the pickup screen to be on the bottom with just a hair of compression rather than being dangling as harmonics can crack it over time with out the addit'l support but you are the other way with too much length. the OE 392 pan uses a pickup with a sharp bend and the OE 876 pan uses a pickup with a long smooth bend. these are "center sump" pans. they musta sent the wrong pickup for your pan cuz 1/2" is alot & way too much. it might be possible to CAREFULLY heat/bend the pickup but that would be a last resort as you gotta get the drop (height) right (slight compression) and the tilt just right plus close to centered in the sump just for easy fitment. I for sure would call them first. 1/2" too much is way out of line, something is wrong there. Holler how things turn out.

thanks for the info. I won't have time to work on it for a couple weeks. But I'm gonna give another look at it as soon as I can. I have a buddy who thinks I might have installed the pump wrong.
