Has anyone modified their license plate, and still use it ? -- Let's them

.

I have seen a lot of people mod that plate. Mostly putting a pic of their own car over the generic one on the plate. I cant think its legal but that was a dumb a$$ plate to begin with. I had that plate on my car until PA allowed the YOM plates to be used.

I got harassed once here by having a retired USAF frame around a Iraqi Freedom Veteran plate, 0900 in the morning then he pulls out the PA reg book and quotes no blockage of the plate, then gives me a sobriety check then the drug screening, man I was pissed called his sargent, he was definitely scolded, then a few months later fired. Just a *** trooper a rarity around here.

The ones I saw modded were the ones with the Model T on it. Seems like the newer one doesnt get modded as much.

-- RPM, you still need inspections with that plate or do you get antique/classic privileges? --
-- The "MCWIRE" one is legal, and requires inspection. -- My Last name is McGuire, and that was not available. This one sounds correct.

I had "SUBLIME" on my '70 Challenger. I went with Antique plates so I could do away with the inspections. Now I have one of the purple antique plates on the Cuda and a 1969 YOM plate on the Dart.

Mine is modded but in a different way. Never been hassled...yet

I drove for years with a modified plate in PA (see the one I modified in Photoshop above for similar change). It was on my 1972 Chevelle SS and the plate said "WILD SS". I figured that since it was grammatically incorrect to start with, I had the right to change it. I was never stopped or ticketed for it, but twice I was followed by cops and saw them laughing their asses off in my rear view mirror.
