shifter for '62 lancer bench??

It should be a Hurst shifter or possibly an ITM shifter which is basically a Hurst shifter made by a different supplier. The maker will be stamped into the side of the shifter.
Trucks used a round shifter handle in those years which were rubber isolated where it mounts into the shifter unit, the rubber usually deteriorates making for a very sloppy shifter.
Brewers does have a rebuild kit for the handle mount or you can cut the handle mount apart and drill two holes and bolt the handle directly to the shifter, I like the drill and bolt method personally.
