Hello I am a newb. Right now I am in the market for purchasing new leaf springs and shackles for my 71 dodge dart swinger. Swapping out he 7 1/2 for a 8 1/4 with an Auburn limited slip :) As i was looking around I found the Mopar performance competition leaf spring and noticed there was a left and right but one was more money? probably a dumb question (But I don't know a whole lot) is there a difference in the left from right? and If you guys have any recommendations would be appreciated.

I believe there superstock springs theres a left and a right spring they'll make your car sit higher on one side.

I see. Would it be possible to just buy two of the right side ones to keep it level? I have plans for a 383 in the future but I don't really won't my car leaning to one side. Is it really noticeable?

reasonable. I have used them for years. I upgraded all my slant 6 70 Dart daily drivers to 6 leafs, like my 340 cars.
this is my 340 car with SS springs. note it is higher on right side

If I recall, about $300 for the pair. Their website is in post 4, call Laura for pricing.

General Spring is also another good provider. They are a bit more economical.

FWIW...I bought the standard height spring, have my front bars twisted just a tad lower. My car has a nice rake, my car buddies agree. Sorry, I don't have enough time in the car yet to comment on the ride yet.

Just an FYI: If I remember correctly, MP S/S springs sit higher on the drivers side when nobody is in the car. The idea is to have the car level when only the driver is in the car.

espo springs were really great to work with. Talked to them on the phone and explained what I was looking for as far as ride height and keeping my 65 formula S basically stock. Great price and had delivery within a week.

The springs listed above are what I used. Good quality and I enjoy the height and ride. Here is a picture of them installed and the invoice for everything.

GO TO SUMMIT RACING, THEY HAVE THE SUPER STOCK SPRINGS. YOU ARE RIGHT, ONE HAS ONE MORE SPRING THAN THE OTHER. IT DOES SIT OFF A BIT BUT YOU CAN ADJUST THE TORSION BARS TO EQUAL IT OUT. LAST I CHECKED THEY WERE $113 APIECE. IT IS WORTH THE CALL ANYWAY. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MINE. THEY LOAD UP AND LAUNCH GREAT ON MY CAR, I HAVE A 1968 DODGE DART GT.

How the car sits and how it rides are very subjective.
Pick your springs carefully to avoid disappointment....

The different arch in the springs has nothing to do with the driver being in the car! It is simply because of the way the power is applied to the drivetrain, and that has everything to do with the rotation of the drivetrain and the torque it puts on the rear end, which is the last component in line! Ever wonder why the passenger tire is the only one to apply power to the ground in a single track rear end?? Because the differential is spinning in such a way that the power is directly correlated with the rotation of the drivetrain! When the car has a Suregrip rear end, the drivers side rotation must be "reversed" to make the tire spin forward instead of backwards, which would be the natural rotation to follow the driveline! Therefore, more power is applied to the passenger side, the leaf spring must be stronger on that side because it is receiving more power!! Make sense??

Yup. And on a car that's raced, the passenger side is the side that gets the most wear.
A thickmain leaf and good support at the eye from the second leaf is important in a car that will be run in the quarter mile, even without drag slicks.

The SS leaf package is designed for maximum traction when launching the car. For left right handling its not the way to go. Although for the Green Brick they had set dearched and it worked well.

For the OP. A good, preferably American made, leaf pack set can be had from various venders, possibly even a local spring shop.

Stengel Bros is PA but they will ship. I'd suggest picking the leaf set for the car you're building. If its a 383 car, then get the springs for a 383.
