Oregon state lawmakers are looking to pass a bill to enact a tax against people who have cars registered in there name that are more then 20 years old will have to pay an impact tax of $1000 every 5 years of ownership. Special interest vehicles excluded. House bill 2877 the tax would be effective 91 days after the adjournment of session. I have attached a copy of the first part. Contact your local legislature to let them know your thoughts.

Yep, both. Mostly about the money, but they would love to see our old pollution cars go away too.

Time to rally up the troops and flood the email and telephone of your state representatives. I just emailed mine earlier tonight voicing my opposition to a new Bill trying to make it harder to own "assault" weapons in Georgia.

So if you drive into Oregon from out of state they going to seize your car and make ya pay....or will your car require a visitor permit was a charge for day you are in state...god these people are stupid...

You're low income, barely scrapin' by, You take good care & maintenance of Your '96 grand caravan. So You owe us two bills a year, 'cause we're f**kin' idiots & we can..........
"Vote for ME!!".

That's what you get with the fucktards that make the culture in Oregon. (portlandia)
Washington (206'ers) is about as bad with the liberal governor and post menopausal senators.
(May seem a little harsh, too much news today)

It's amazing the things that come up as bills there, it was the last thing I heard about when I left the building Friday and the first thing I heard when I walked in this morning. Not suprised to see it die before going to committee even. But could see it coming back in another form or as part of another bill. Let's hope not lol.

Damn, stupid social engineering bastards and that kind of crap are why I can't listen to the news. I'd have to be on beta blockers and blood thinners if I did.

:mob:

Whether the bill is dead or not, we all need to get in some sort of organized car club and show our support. Power in numbers is all we have.

I don't know WTF it is about most people that choose to and can afford to buy a new car every three years that makes them incapable of understanding why anyone else wouldn't want to do that.

Funny when i used have to take my duster in for emisions it passed better than the newer car's! Thank god they stopped testing pre obd 2.

Lots of people tha CAN'T afford it drive new cars too. Some just roll the negative equity into the next loan. They'll be making car payments the rest of their lives because the cars don't last the term of the loan. Seems like most cars are so expensive now you'd be paying for 5-6 years just to get a managable payment. No thanks!
If I can't pay up front, I can do without it.
I don' t need car payments or credit cards!

So often governments go after small groups to raise revenue and they feel there won't be much opposition. The best defense is to call their representatives, and keep calling them.

My dad used to say, "If you're not getting the results you want, make a damn nuisance of yourself."

California, Its going to be interesting when Gavin Newsom is the Gov.

Newsom is the biggest pretty boy puss I've ever met. Total politician. When I use to work with the Toys for Tots program in SF and he was "up & coming", he use to stop by the firehouse and take his jacket off and roll up he sleeves and talk about how all of our hard work was appreciated (as we worked our asses off ... and drank ;) but he would never help one bit except for one minute when he was getting a photo op. As soon as he left, you should have heard the firefighters talking **** about him. They knew his "personal lifestyle" pretty well. Total L--tard!
