So I would like some opinons. I am tossing it around about turning my car onto the Blue Bottle and my question is do you think it would be worth while ? Currently running a .508 purple cam with 3500 Stall convertor and I have a 9" Ford rear end with a 3.89 gear set, dyno at close to 413 hp. My car runs 7.36 in the 1/8 on a mixture of 60% 93 octane pump gas and 40% 110 racing fuel, and by the time I get close to a 1/4 mile I have no more gears and the car does not gain any more speed. So 7.36 sec is pretty quick and I dont know if it would be worth throwing the bottle on.

How tall/small are your tires? 3.89 should be ok for a 1/4 mile ? Nos is fine if set up correctly and of course NOT TO MUCH !!

Tires are 255/60 The guy I have is very well educated in building race motors etc.. and he told me NOS would be fine as long as I do not get carried away...

You should be 11's in the 1/4 with no problems. What mph did it run in the 1/8? Low 90's?

IMO, if it's not picking up any mph on the back half of the 1/4 you have issues somewhere else. Have you checked the fuel pressure going down the track? Find and fix what's wrong now. If it's leaning out now it may be a small issue, leaning out with N2O can cause a big issue.

well, if your builder says ok... did he recommend a NOS kit?
We have touched on it briefly but he knows the kit that will match up with my car. He did mention something on the terms of injecting thru the carb plate. I will discuss with him more in detail if I decide that I want to go this route.. I am leaning more towards it...

ok 27" tall and rpm at 1/8 and 1/4 ? Kind of tires ? Suspension? I'm finding out thats my problem.
I'd love to try a little shot but for me it always comes to the budget :(:bs_flag::wtf::D

With compression that high you'd likely need to run straight race gas and a timing controller. How good are your head gaskets? Rings gapped far enough? AFR gauge?

I agree, shouldn't roll over and die with 3.89 gears. I'll let others discuss the NOS, I'm not a fan of the bottle.

From my calcs if your running 7.36 in the 1/8th, thats>
60 Foot E.T. : 1.62
1/8 Mile E.T. : 7.37
1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 92.28
1/4 Mile E.T. : 11.67
1/4 Mile Trap Speed : 115
1/4 Mile Trap RPM : 5,561+slip
thats with 27" tyres x 3.89 gears and 410hp at a guesstimate weight of 3300lbs?.

That trap rpm isn't a lot, that cam should pull to 6k in a stock stroke motor if thats what you have? I would look carefully at your fuel/ign system before you hit it with anything. I ran a stock '71 340 motor on spray all the way up from a 125 to a 250 shot with no probs at all, not even a tipped plug, but I did have 2 blue pumps, and 2 x 1/2" lines, 1 just for the N20 fuel, thats not a mandatory thing to do, you can get away with less on a smaller shot but safe IS good when running spray.

It will probably loosen the Converter a bit if you stay in a 100-150 hit. Controllers are for all user's of NOS and should be considered for your car. I like a way to check Fuel Pressure on the big end and a AFR will definitely ease the tune. Race Gas most likely since you have some compression and with a timing control you may can run a mixture. I personally think your combo will really like a nice hit if you are racing 1/8th mile and with your gear I don't see the tongue hanging out at the stripe. Just make sure you have your Fuel System in check.

It's a power adder just like anything else IMO and if you get a decent tune your ET will substantially decrease....

Good luck,
JW
