Make sure you install the new distributor drive pinion correctly; it's not as obvious as it looks. See

the gear that was on the car was not broken i did order a new from doorman. there wasno issue in the first place
i will check it out when i get around to replacing it , all in all the end play should be between .007 and .009
is the problem the gear is poorly made
