Hi everyone

I bought the # 007 Black Hemi Dart produced by Blue Moon Motorsports and commissioned by Norm Kraus and his team; build commenced in 2009 and took delivery in 2014.

I hope this is the correct forum for information regarding these cars as I plan to be documenting my experiences with her.

I am currently searching for any other owners of the few cars that were actually built; if anyone knows any information concerning these owners please post or send pm. From my research so far, I think mine might have been the last one built out of a planned run of 40.

much more to come....:thankyou:

How about some pics ?
Congrats on a sweet ride !!
Thanks for sharing !!!

How do you like the control freak 4 link? Ride manners, adjustability, ect. Thanks

thanks for the questions....
Jimmer: I ordered the all-aluminum 572 ci hemi setup with two 780 cfm holleys on a x-ram intake (of course, if a man is going to spend this much $$$ on a car, its got to have the most displacement, right? more to come concerning the engine.

Pascamp: I don't have sufficient number of miles or runs to make a judgement on the suspension as of yet....repeat, as of yet:BangHead:

This car has a Passon Performance a-833 4 speed with hurst shifter, superdana 60 rearend, 4:10 gearset.

now for the engine...
I'm just an everyday country boy from east texas that has my own business. I have always busted my a** working and thought I had to have this car. Normally would have built my own and have several more to back it up.
Finally had it delivered, body and interior are first class; after initial euphoria noticed water vapor on the valve covers...uh oh:(. Also the clutch linkage did not play well with the 3-finger hays clutch setup, I pulled and stabbed the tranny 7 times in my home garage, finally replaced clutch with a centerforce unit. So I take it for a test drive and a headgasket on drivers side says bye bye. man was I pissed:elmer::elmer::elmer:. I pulled the motor, tore it down, cylinder sleeves varied from .02 to 0.19 above deck...really???? another level of pissed! Also the displacement was 528 ci, not the 572 that I paid for.
I got HHP to exchange bad block for new generation HHP block (see chrysler power mag dated August 2014, page 16); signed by Tom Hoover before he passed and other ramchargers. Since then we have been machining, testing, ordering custom parts and slowly moving towards a real custom built hemi. Gettin close.

Oh man sorry you are going through that !!!
Are they doing anything to cover it ?
I can't wait to see the new motor and progress !!!

ok, back to the story. I decided to use the scat crank, heads and push rods from the crap motor. We worked the Stage VII heads until they flow 404 cfm on flowbench, happy with that. Bought new custom Diamond pistons and rods, compression ratio will be 12.5:1, I love the way race gas smells. New bullet camshaft, don't remember the specs offhand but will provide later. The crank had to be massively reworked to attain throw clearance and balancing, my engine builder is also a great machinist. These events have been slowly coming together over the last 3 years. Wife is not happy (I don't blame her one bit) but I am now "connected" with the car (you guys and gals know that can only happen by extensive planning and wrenching). to be continued...I really hope to find the owners of the remaing car(s). Should be a wild ride when finished, thanks everyone for your support!

Just morbid curiosity but would you mind sharing approximate cost involved so far with car, motor, repair, ect? The reason I am asking is that I am putting together a pretty correct LO23 clone and often wondered if it would have been better to buy a completed vehicle. Promise not to tell your wife! Thanks.

lol, the purchase price was well into mid 6 figures, new engine, drivetrain, etc 15k so far. If you are already into the process (looks like you are) I think you are on the right track. You now have direct control over how much $$$ to spend on what components dependant on how far you want to take it. Good luck, please post pics or let me know if there is already a thread, Thanks

Thank you for your information. Interestingly a hemi dart semi clone restored by Muscle Car Restorations sold for $47K at the recent Mecum Auction, which is rather alarming as one can easily have twice that into a LO23 clone.... Oh well, only money. I wish you well with your Dart and when my project gets to the point of looking like a car once again I will attempt to post photos. Thank you.

Sorry, but my reply somehow got hooked to a quote of your reply. Strange.

I worked for Mr. Norms Garage during those years and drove the Gold prototype and the #1 car that is red. In fact I destroyed the engine in the red car doing a mild burnout at the Mopar Nationals during the cruise in Heath. Basically it sucked a valve seat in the Stage V heads which I found out later was a common problem with those heads. The engine was built by Jim Van Gordon out of California, not sure if yours was too. If you would like to private message me I can tell you what I know, was down at Blue Moon quite a few times too.

Is Blue Moon still operating?
I know Mr. Norms sells merch online for the new Challengers.
Knew a Guy who worked there for a couple of years. He knew a ton of great suspension mods.
He mentioned many problems with employees coming and going...

update
we just completed oil pressure test regarding valve train, everything looked good, all squirters working great at 80 psi. right now we are configured as an unrestricted oil flow setup. dyno time, will keep close watch on oil pressure to make sure that there is not too much oil making the trip to top end...will keep all posted
