Twistgrip's 69 F3 340 GTS Resto

I agree, all the greens tended to fade and lose luster quickly, not as bad as the older silvers but it tends to make people remember it as a ho-hum color. However, it was very popular with all the manufacturers in the late 60s they all had a version of light metallic green. You wouldn't believe the number of younger folks that has seen my jam out and bottom end paint and thought it was some new blend metallic. They are shocked to hear it is factory coded '69 F3.

I think we will see a resurgence of green in the auto industry. People are color starved and tired of Gray/Silver/White
on every car.

high met content and very little color , i've squirted alot of cars/truck during that time , silver was the worst to lay down , very hard to get a even tone . and again high met , no color . but looking at it freash , there sweet looking paint jobs . that color your shooting is a two stage or single ? i've got a lt green met challenger r/t that is in need , lol . well a bit more than paint .

AC is rare and very desirable, I plan to retro fit an airtemp underdash unit I bought at car show several years back. Nice find for you.

Great car! I've been an e body fanatic since I bought my first car, (73 Challenger). My car has single stage under body, trunk, hood and jams. Will have two stage on exterior.

did after market air on this duster along with the rest for a customer . used duracool ref 12a , also used to fuel outdoor patio torch lamps .

oh ya , that 70 challenger r/t would make a great clone of vanishing point one as well . but the green is different . almost a sleeper , lol .

Black factory GTS tail stripe, black interior, yes GTS trunk panel, DuPont Cromax two stage.

I love the smell of fresh paint in the morning.....smells like victory!

Well done.

dupont , figgers that rep is and *** out here , its never his product thats the problem . been using ppg's shop line . tried others . did a complete in transtar , its crap for completes . and okay for panel repairs , sets up to quick for completes . and of course , bay area air quality enforcement won't let there slower agents be used here . and the cost of paint n materials out here , well you don't want to buy them twice . very nice job on yours , don't need a buff , of course a picture lies a thousand words , lol . nice ride .

she looks sweet ! to think this is the same color , same as my first gtsport 340 auto ps pb car . got it as a roll job . i put my port a power and a couple blocks of wood . push it back up . change the windshield and it was a driver . i think back that was 74ist . paid $175 for it at salvage action . funny i bought two 69 gtsports 340 auto cars at salvage actions , # matching cars . my gt was a transplant . great looking color , still thinking my challenger r/t would look sweet in its stock color .

I agree it would look great in its color. When paint is fresh and not faded the green shimmers in sunlight and gets darker deeper in shade.

I love the greens....... the 60's,early 70's..... tons of new green cars out of th factory, yes GREEN......fast forward to be beginning of th mopar hobby... these cars are 15-20 yrs old,,, that pretty green out of th e fatory now is faded and looks like poop............. so every green car project back then, got painted RED!!!!! or blue!!!!!!!!!!!! to find an original F3 F5 F8 car restored back to GREEN was hard to find!!!!! near impossible. after all red sells and runs faster too!?? ha
maybe life has come full circle!!!!! green if good!
I just picked up a very sold 72 duster F3 car, it will go back F3 if I have it to that point in time....or maybe F8 I like it even better.

still got that would look gleeming in green , had a 71 challenger r/t for awhile , 340 with a bunch of options . sold it on a trade with my cam guy from a couple of motors . gave him the clip to fit it with also

Finally got the shifter to disengage, crazy slide lock contraption bad frozen after close to 50 years. Soaked in mineral spirits sprayed down with Kroil. Factory manual says use .010 feeler, yea right. I was able to fab a stouter tool from a small piece of banding material and drive it in gently with small hammer. Chucked up gear shifter with rags in vise and used flat metal bar and hammer to tap the shifter off the lever. Shifter will be brought to chrome shop this week.

I will post pictures and updates during the rebuild of my 1969 340 GTS. Car is a F3 green, black bucket seat, manual disc, AM/FM, 4 speed car. Has not been on the road since 1974 and bought out of storage. It has numbers matching engine and transmission but no build sheet and fender tag is partially rusted away. My goal is to build it like we drove in high school, straight from 1977. I will not change anything that will require much effort to return to stock. Biggest mod will be big bolt pattern axles and discs for the kelsey hays calipers. Enjoy the show!:happy1:

Since this is going to be a day two type restoration the goal being that mid 70s second owner look, painted the brake drums red. Should be slightly visible behind rims. Big question is Cragar SS or Keystone Klassics. Most of the race car pictures I have show the Cragars on Dodge Darts and Keystones on Plymouths.
