Has anybody on this site received a 5 speed from Passon Performance? I talked to a guy in Capser WY who does a lot of four speed business with Passon Perofrmance and he tells me that there are about 50 sold and delivered units. (There seems to be a tail housing quality issue causing a breif delay in delivery right now though.) If you have a A855 please let us know how it's working and post a few photos.

Funny, I was just wondering about this today. Wondering how production was going, or if there was still a big waiting list, etc.

I've called him. I'm 181 on his list. At this time he can't provide any estimate for when a five speed will be available for me. He was also not willing to tell me how many transmissions have been produced. He doesn't follow the list numerically. He builds and tests transmissions as parts that pass quality control are available. Mostly B & E have been produced to this point.
I would love to hear about someone who received a 5 speed recently and their experiences with it.

I called 3 or 4 weeks ago to get a price to rebuild 2 A-833 A-body 4 speeds. Jamie gave me a quote and we started talking. I ask how sales for the 5 speed were going. He said sales were great, getting them built was harder! I reminded him of when he announced the 5 speed on Moparts and that I PM'ed him that I wanted one. I didn't think anything about it. He says to me, whats your last name?" I told him and I could hear him typing on his computer, next thing out of his mouth is "your on the list, your number 8 and we have sold way more than that, would you like one?" I said yes and went and picked it up.

I've had mine since March 2014, had it out for a blast today. Hang in there guys its worth the wait!

He's a stand up guy...these folks are bashing him on other forums #haters...BTW say Hi to D. Graver!

wasn't there someone here that was having issues with his?

no way in hell would i pony up the cash for one until a few years down the road once things are sorted out.. no doubt there are gonna be bugs to work out.. at this point even a few years down the road people aren't gonna have them and things wont be sorted out..

the other problem i see with this trans is something i didn't think about until someone on this forum mentioned it.. what happens 5 or 10 years down the road when you need parts for this expensive *** transmission? are there gonna be parts around for it?

i hope to hell he didn't bite off more then he can chew.. hate to see this experiment end him.. his 4 speed knowledge and customer service is too good to lose him..

he is still in full swing on the 4spd set ups...in fact I drove and picked one up for my demon and saved $$$$ on price/shipping vs. going with Brewers who had a 3 month waitlist for a 4spd...

yes i know he is still doing 4 speed stuff. but designing and building the 5 speed couldn't have been cheap.. lots of money had to be put out before ever selling one.. what happens when people who have money down get tired of waiting and want their money back?

no knowledge of that, are you saying he's taking full payment and then making people wait?

i doubt he is taking full payment but has to be taking some kind of deposit don't ya think? i'm not on the list so i don't know for sure. i do know that buildin gthat thing couldn't have been cheap and it being years now and people still aren't getting them is a problem..

Yeah I agree, some deposit has to come. I remember reading about 1-2yrs ago he was having problems with production quality and had to change manufacturers (hearsay)...that being said, I can understand a wait time like this because he's not a "tremec" facility...he's a guy that has a small shop (comparitively) and is changing the game by making something work without altering the car...it's a niche. As long as he's still getting the meat/potatoes from the 4spd stuff, the others will wait or not. Personally, I trade cars like candy bars (I usually make it 1yr before moving to another classic car) or I would invest in one, but that's just me.

I was on the list and I didn't give a deposit.

thats nuts.. good for him not needing a deposit then.. like i said hope this trans doesn't sink him..

He takes No deposits on his 5 speeds
As far as expensive goes even a 4 speed swap over is expensive now a days. I do not thing his trans is that expensive.
If you seen his inventory on these 5 speeds is crazy. There will be parts for a long time. He is the one that puts them together along with all his other work. Thats why they are taking so long. He will not hire John Dow off the streets to do this. I am sure if he was making two grand from each tranny they would be flying out the door.

17 years ago i put a Tremec 5speed in my Hemi duster and it cost me 3800.00 bucks and I did all the work. The Passon 5 speed is well worth the money.

I have 3 of them. 2 for my 70 Cuda convertibles and one for my 68 Fastback. installing the a body one now. I've had the E body ones for about a year-and-a-half now. I had an issue with one of my E body trans jumping out of 4th gear. When I picked up my A body trans he fixed it. No problem since.... Hang in there guys it's going to be worth the wait!
